What are the MINIMUM connection requirements?

Hi folks

I've been wondering what the MINIMUM upstream & downstream connection speeds are to get DG working for MP?

What are the connection requirements for:

1 vs. 1: ?

2 vs. 2: ?

3 vs. 3: ?

4 vs. 4: ?

5 vs. 5: ?

The reason being that I don't want to be the one causing the game to lag.

My current connection speeds are:

Down stream: 256kbps (min) & 384kbps (max)

Up stream: 64kbps (min) & 128kbps (max)

It'd be iffy trying to do much at all with that connection (which by current FCC definitions is not broadband), sorry. You might be able to manage a 1v1, but given it's a team game, you'd be hard pressed to find such matches.

Yeah with .49mb/s i can't even play 3v3s..

The numbers I list are from befor the patch that reduces bandwith. Reguardless I think the numbers are still good to get an idea of what nessisarry, even it its a bit on the high end now.

I did see your post tperge, I know the numbers are old & they've changed.

I'm actually looking at upgrading my connection. That's why I'm asking the question...

Unfortunately there is always a cost implication

The other connections available in my area are:

For double my current subscription: down stream 416kbps (min) - 512kbps (max) & up stream 192kbps (min) - 256kbps (max).

If I pay triple: down stream 640kbps (min) - 4096kbps (max) & up stream 256kbps (min) - 512kbps (max).

I know the logic is going to be: "Get the best one" but what will I be able to play with each connection (if any)?

My other problem will always be ping, being in South Africa. Hopefully that will be fixed soon though, as we've got a new undersea cable landing

The real issue is upload speed for you.

If you get the one that costs double, 192kb min, You should be fine for 3v3... Maybe 4b4 but not gurenteed.

If you pay triple, for the 256kb conneciton you should be able to play 4v4 and probably even 5v5.

Your ping shouldnt be a big issue at all, as the game allows for a netlag of 350. I would think connection to the US, you might be at about 200-250 ping and probably a bit less to Europe.

Heck I play with people in Asia and Aus, with no issues in reguards to ping.

This is exactly what I was looking for!

Anyway, an update on my connection.

I upgraded to the next level & was told by my line supplier that if I use them as an ISP, I can get the top connection & line for slightly more than the mid level package... now I must just give notice to my current ISP & move
