my maps wont work

hope this is the right place.

well i create maps in galaxy forge and put them in the galaxy folder in my sinsgame.

i recently updated to to latest version on impluse and now none of my maps appear to be played. anyone tell me where im going wrong. probaly something very simple.

1) by "the latest version on impulse" do you mean the beta patch or 1.05? maybe custom maps don't work with 1.09, or at least need some tweaking when created with the galaxy forge.

2) what exactly do you mean is wrong? you mean in the map display, when you switch to custom maps or any other category, the game does not display them? or does it and it just spits out an error message when you try to run it? the former would be really strange, apart from telling you to surely check out all categories, I would not know of anything that could be wrong.

i have the beta and normal when you start a new game custom maps will be show alongside normal maps but now my custom maps dont appear at all. and i have cheaked out all catagories think its is to do with the beta.

that may be a good call. you could try dl maps from other users and see if they work. if none of them do, chances are it is something with the beta patch.

if you are willing to put some work into it, you could check for differences in the code between the IC maps and yours/ user generated ones. the code is in fact not all that complicated and very systematic (we used to create maps just with the editor), so it's not all that hard. you should be able to open them with any document reader like word.

ok i'll try some downloaded maps then depending how depsrat i am to play it i may try and find differances thanks for the help.

they will probably do so only after the final 1.1 is out, bc it IS just a beta and they probably would not want to update the map making tool three or four times if all the versions do is play test the current version.

also, better direct your request at Ironclad, since they are the devs and SD acts as publisher and consulting company, not as the code writers. not here at least.

ok but i did find out how to get it to work all you do is make the map as normal then save it go and look at the code and where is says version right at the top change that from 1 to 2 and it seems to work

take a look where you download galaxy forge it says its only supports 1.05

Hi!

Galasy Forge does indeed support only 1.05, but you can still tweak your maps to be playable in the beta: open the .galaxy file with a text editor. At the very top there's the line "versionNumber  1". This means, that the map only supports non-beta versions. Change it to "versionNumber 2" and save it. Check, if your text editor saves the file as .galaxy.txt and change this back to .galaxy if necessary. Works AFAIK for the 1.1beta, after that, or in conjunction with mods, I'm not sure.

Yes, posativ's fix does indeed work.  I can confirm this myself.  When I posted my map of the solar system I was on 1.09 Beta and all I did was just change the version number to 2 and bingo.  Make sure it's notepad you're using and not a complicated word processor, that's going to save extra stuff you don't really need.
