Wierd Lockup

I'm experiencing a significant lockup with Object Dock+ 1.9. I'm using DesktopX and Object Dock as a desktop replacement. I use DX for a replacement toolbar. The toolbar has some DX objects acting as links to folders/programs.

I'm using OD+ with one dock for a System Tray replacement, one dock to display open/minimized programs, and one 'invisible' dock to reserve the bottom 72 pixels of the screen for my DesktopX stuff and the other two docks.

I have one DX object that displays CPU usage using the meter plugin. This object acts as a link to the Windows task manager when clicked on and opens "C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe". Everything up to this point works perfectly, however, when I close (not minimize) taskmgr.exe, OD+ hangs(locks up, is unresponsive) for 30-40 seconds, freezing my docks. The rest of the system is fine and I can Alt-Tab to other applications. After the delay, life proceeds as normal.

My OD+ and DesktopX are up to date with the latest updates, I'm running a Dell Inspiron 1705 Laptop with 2GB ram.

Any similar experiences or tips?

I have better luck if I don't "share screen space" or overlap DTX widgets and objects with OD docks, and I think even OD within itself between docks. Does it help if you get rid of the invisible dock, and maybe allow everything to have its own screen space? Would be a lot lest z-ordering conflict management.

I have DTX and OD loaded up at the moment, just now opened and closed task manager, no problem. Run them both together frequently and task manager occasionally, never noticed an issue. For awhile I had a pop-up DTX toolbar sharing space with an auto-hiding OD standard dock, gave up on it because it seemed to have a problem with Windows Explorer for some reason, particularly with thumbnail views, figured I was just abusing my video card - 10 pounds of potatoes in a 5 pound bag and all that

My intent is to use only DesktopX for my taskbar replacement, but there is no Systray support in Vista right now (there is no system tray object type available in DX builder mode, but there is a taskbar type, but it's lame compared to OD+'s window previews), so I have to use OD+ for system tray support and an OD+ dock for running tasks.

Also, I've tried setting the screenspace/workspace to reserve space for my taskbar replacement, objects, and docks at the bottom of the screen, but DesktopX seems to fail here also for IE7 and sometines for Outlook 2007:

,that's why I'm using the 'invisible' dock to reserve the screen space - that's the only thing that seems to properly reserve the space for my DesktopX objects.

Task Manager only causes the lockup when it's open or when I close it. If I minimize it, OD does not momentarily (15-30 seconds)lock up.

I've come up with a simple solution to my problem. I'm not sure what it is about Taskman.exe that is causing my OD+ to lag/lockup, but I had an epiphany - don't use Taskman.exe

I'm using Process Explorer instead of the standard Windows taskmanger. It's much better and does not cause any lags or lockups.
