Newbie questions..

I just started playing my first single player game and I have a few questions. So I started building on my home planet now I can build any capital ships b/c I dont have enough fleet supply. So is there any way to increase this number? I'm not talking abot modding. B/C when I was searching the forum I came across posts about modding to change it. And also what about Capital Ship Crews? Are these numbers are fixed or can I increase them by like research and stuff.

Both of these are increased through research in the Fleet Logistics research screen

You really want to wait for a while to increase that capital ship number or overall fleet supply as you are taxed more per second for having a larger fleet to sustain.

What I would suggest is first maxing out your fleet of 100 then increasing your capital ship level as you increase that. This way you are growing at a rate in line with your expansion.

You really only need one capital ship (I recommend the colonizer to start with) to start off with and get some planets under your belt. Then as you build up and expand, add another as you see fit. A good one is the hanger one because it has a healing perk for other capital ships.

OK guys thanks a lot.. Now the question is I've been playing for a while and got like 3 planets. But when I look at the graphs (the once that shows when i try to exit) my credit loss due to planet underdevelopment is very high... What can I do to minimize this??

When you colonize planets they actually start off losing money because they're underdeveloped. You need to upgrade their infrastructure (first button on top when you select a planet, looks like a semi sphere) so it starts making you money instead

When you first take a planet, its not developed. That means the population is low, and you suffer a tax penalty (because its underdeveloped), so you lose money on it.

To fix that, click on the planet, then click the planetary upgrades button (its the first one). One of the upgrades is planet development. When finished, that gives the planet more population and reduces its tax penalty.

Most planet types turn into a profit rather then a loss at two upgrades (asteroids at one, because they only have one upgrade). Maxing out that upgrade will result in more tax revenue, but you probably can't afford to max it out right away. The key is to get the first couple in so you're not losing money on the planet.

I almost always get out of underdevelopment the instant I can, usually sacrificing other thigns for it.
