best setup for basic game play

just got the game, and its freakin phat however im traveling 90% of the time and cant play the game on home p.c.

and it just so happens that im using a notebook however it got a small prob. its got bunk graphics like 64mb generic (R) us.

ramms at 2024 and cpu is hitting 3.2

the game runs fine in windows mode with a bit of a chop, is there a way to have smooth game play with this generic graphics.

(with the effects set at lowest the movements of the game are a bit slow as in a lag effect with normal ship movement)

is there something else i could do to the games options to get the game to run at speed?

i do plan on a notebook up grade but as it stands right now im stuck with what i got.

any-help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're already at the lowest it'll go on all the settings, then there's not much you can do really but stick to the smallest maps. If your laptop has integrated graphics though, you may be able to increase the amount of memory set aside for it in the machine's BIOS, which could help a bit. If you're not tech-savvy enough to do that yourself though, it's best advised to find someone who is as doing things wrong in the BIOS can cause big problems.

few things i did, see if im missing anything: at the moment the game zooms in&out really good ship movement could be a tad better but i guess im expecting the performance of my desktop,
anyhow this is what i did, in the effects menu i unclicked colored skyboxes,deep space skyboxes,bloom & 0 on exhaust trail.
put the game in (run in windows only mode and went to my computers visual effects and doubled the mb that windows can use for a page file, (just a note: dont know if this did anything but the game glides much much better)

you know of any other effects the would be chewing up resources?

I would suggest deactivating every background program that is running in the, well, background. Like Anti virus scanners etc.

However, since your Laptop is very powerful apart from the weak graphics card, it probably won't help much.

Ah, I got another tip: Go from 32 to 16 Bit in Windows (right click on desktop => settings). This is only experimental, and I don't even know if the game runs with 16 Bit, but it might make it slightly faster (if not, set it back to 32 Bit, since many games don't like 16 Bit).

And something else comes to mind: Open the Task Manager and set the program priority one step higher. Theoretically this shouldn't help at all, but it might. Again, if it doesen't make a difference then set it back, although it shouldn't cause a problem (as long as you don't set priority to real time).

Generally it's hard to make a graphics card limited game run faster, once all in-game settings are set to the minimum.
