OK..... Just to clear things up. i still have not finished a single round of Sins, because i suck. I think that maybe writing things down well help clear things up for me and for any others with any problems. Other posts and help are welcome, and it is going to take a little while to finish this, because i suck at Sins and i have no clue what im doing here.
Hoh K. This tutorial picks up right after the first 4 tutorials, it is just a quick review and little helper guide...
Controls, you can learn those in the basic tutorials and etc. The best way to learn how to use the controls is to simply play and do. It can be a little wierd at first, but trust me, your ability to control your empire depends on how efficiently you can move from one place to another.
To start off, you have a planet. This planet is your main bud of your new empire. You also have asteroids for mining and minerals. Speaking of minerals, there are three recources:
Credits (Money) - - - Credits allow you to buy things. Everything in the game requires credits. Basically, in order to get a faster credit income, you need to control more planets. The only problem is, when you conquer a new planet, you have a tax on the new people. In order to decrease the tax and get more credits, you have to develop the planets civilization, i think. Maybe its infrastructure. Its the picture of the person in the planet developement menu. Basically, when you conquer a planet, your credit income drops until you raise it up with developement.
Metal - - - Metal is mainly used in order to build your ships. Metal can be found on asteroids found around the planets that you conquer. Metal is your biggest production tool... (as far as i know)
Crystal - - - Crystal is also found on asteroids. Crystals are a little harder to find then metals, and it is used a little less then metal, but it is still very important. You want to try to have a constant crystal supply as your going through the game, because it is used to advance your technologies and build some of the more advanced ships.
These recources are absolutely essential to building up your new empire. Obviously, no recources, no building ships, then no expanding, internally or externally.
Now we move onto things that we can build. You have two kinds of structures, Tactical and Logical.
Tactical - - - Tactical is your support, basically. From turrets to repair stations, and even the Super launcher (once again, will update. I am away from my personal computer and actual game with information... this is all from memory). Tactical slots are essential in choke points. You can throw turrets down at entry points, which will give you a little extra support in the case of an attack. You can also throw down a hanger and a repair station, to take down those bigger ships and heal your own fleet respectively.
Logical (I think) - - - Logical is where all the important stuff happens. You can throw down a ship bay (?) for both your personal ships and the ever so important capital ships. YOu also get your civilian and your military upgrade stations, though it is only a good idea to place one or two of each at one planet at a time. I haven't really gotten a chance to explore much further then that, but later, when i revise this and go into detail, i can tell you what exactly im talking about...
Planets are what make up your empire. Your people can't live on ships forever, so you have to colonize planets, to increase the income of all recourse, however for anything conquered, you will have a minor dip in your credit income until you get rid of taxes by bettering the (infrastructure?). Types of colonizable planets are listed below:
(Will fill in later
Now that you have recources and an idea, you want to get started. I don't know the best strategy yet for the first 15 minutes, but i think the best thing to do is learn for yourself. So, in the beginning, you want to expand you empire, but before you do that, you need ships. Go to your ship bay and start building several scout fighters (I will refrain from using specific names because A. I don't know them and B. They are different for every class.
Once you have you scouts, auto enable explore and set them free. Don't get too concerned if you come across other scout fighters in the beginning, the other empires have just as little power as you. If a scout happens to find its way into you home base, try to remember where it came from and throw down a little extra defense, when you have enough money.
From what i can tell, every planet and colonizable area will have at least 2 pirate ships in the gravity well. After you discover a planet, determine if you can conquer it. If so, build up a mini fleet of several light frigates and get rid of the pirates. Once you are sure you've won the battle, build a colonizer and go for it.
If you can't colonize, try to find out what you need to do in order to colonize. If it's a researchable planet, then try to aim for researching, but dont make it your main goal, you have other empires fighting for it as well. Alot of your chance of being near a colonizable planet is luck, because the maps are random.
Will update later.
