Hi guys! First off, I'd like to say that this is one of the best RTS games I've played in awhile. I've really enjoyed the game so far. I do have some concerns for the game, and I was wondering if anything was planned in the future to address them?
1)
End Game - I finished up an 8 man game, with a mix of AI opponents. I really enjoyed this almost the entire way through. Somewhat near the end, when I had about 70% of the planets, and I knew there was no way of losing unless I walked away from the machine. At this point, the game got a bit tedious really. I felt like I was more of the galaxy's vaccum cleaner, going around and finishing up the rest of the work. While this does happen in other RTS games, it's usually a much quicker task. This clean up can still take a few hours which can be rough.
2)
Longevity - Another thing I noticed when I'd capped out all of my ships, technology, and I had more cash and resources than I could ever spend, I felt like I'd seen and done everything. I'm trying to relate this back to other RTS games, and I guess the main thing I can think of is how this relates to Warcraft III. When playing WCIII in multiplayer, in general, no one ever gets all technologies, or uses all units. There's no point. You need to get on a tech path, and wipe the other player out fast, otherwise it'll happen to you. In Sins, this process is much much longer. I played a game with 40-50 systems (I think), and I saw everything I could see for that race.
3)
Race Variety - While Sins isn't as bad of an offender as Homeworld was, there isn't a lot of diversity in the races. In general, if you know one race, the only ramp up you need on another race is figuring out what new tech relates to the ones of the race you already know. The ships are all pretty much identical, so trying a new race doesn't feel all that satisfying. Are you planning on adding some variety to the races?
Anyway, again, great game, but these are some key points I thought I'd like to mention
