Wow, Peacekeepers quickly got me to play nice around turn 100. I know some people hate them, I just want to know if they're a permanent effect. Do they go away when all wars are over? Also, I wouldn't mind fighting them once my science scales up, but it seems like they randomly spawn out of nowhere to attack my soft targets. Is this the case or is there a limited number of Peacekeepers floating around that I can track down and (hopefully) kill?

Ironically, I only play militaristic (tried Benevolent, needed to invade) and have never used a military base either. For one, non-military bases are easy enough to harden and use for ship shelters. I do like the idea of using military bases to create a command circuit, so I tried using military bases for frontline beachheads but on ludicrous maps it's fairly pointless. If you could throw in something that actually made my military planning, like a high level base module that wo

Another factor making a strategy guide harder to write is that game settings can dramatically change the nature of the game. You have massively different experiences if you play on larger maps with less resources and planets compared to a small map with abundant bits to exploit.
You know, I actually think it would be better if you could garrison legions using transports.
Yah, distribution and timing makes sense compared to rush building to defend against an invasion. But then that means legions would need to originate on certain planets (mostly your homeworld).

IIRC, you could do the same thing with deep space Rally Points in the base game. That was with the latest patch before Crusade.
I almost always play on large (or larger) maps, with nebula, black holes, asteroids, etc set to common or above. That might be why I don't run into shortages of antimatter/thulium/elerium/durantium/promethium very often.
Yah, and I think that's why our early and mid-game is probably a lot different than people who feel the resource scarcity acutely. I know it's going to be a while befor
In real life countries have a dif mix. Sometimes some of the mix is 0. As said before randomness adds to the game.
A lot depends on your game settings too. If you play on the larger maps, then even rare resources are not insurmountable. Indeed, find that Monsantium deposit and now you have a decent motivation to even go to war for it if you have to.
