Save games can sometimes become corrupted, so whenever a new update comes along I tend to start a new game. They certainly might work, but I find it easier to start over to avoid any issues.
Galactic Civilizations III Beta 5.1 is now available on an opt-in basis. This is primarily a crash fix patch, but we also squeezed in 50 new AI conversations and some miscellaneous fixes.</sp
