Just for fun to mess with the stupid AI I sent in a convoy of transports with no escort at all save for a single scout taking point, and one AMM to take out the orbiting battleaxe. When the 'defenders' see the scout, they commit 100% of their forces in the area (usually a few battleships and dreadnoughts) to catching that scout, (which they never do). The scout just goes in circles leading them on a merry chase. Meanwhile the transports come in and take the defenseless planet. :)
Interstellar
The effects of the structure should be there. You just can't see it. Anyway, that bug's already fixed in 1.04 beta. Should be coming out soon I hope.
I don't build star fighters because I really don't care if the AI wants to fight me. If they declare war on me, I just kill them all. War is part of the game, and it's way more fun than just clicking the 'next turn' button over and over waiting for tech or culture victory. ;p Now if I were playing just so I could make a bunch of high scores on the Metaverse well then I probably would build a whole bunch of star fighters, make friends & trade with all the AI and just keep on mindlessly
You guys need to raise the difficulty on your games, or quit doing Ctrl-N so much. ;) Battlehammers are good come-from-behind weapons because the cost to research them is lower, maintenance and survivability are also good. This becomes important when your starting location is in a corner and you get pinned down to only a few planets, you'll find the AI able to invest a lot more into research and they'll get Battleships & Dreadnoughts way before you. In this hopeless situation the battle
I like to spend time looking around for cool ship names and I'm looking for more ideas. Here's some of my ships: Moonraker - One of my favorite names, from a 007 movie. Executor - Darth Vader's personal Super Star Destroyer. Hyperion - Huge ship from Babylon 5. Agamemnon - Also from Babylon 5. Millenium Falcon - Star Wars (only for a small ship) Hawk-Bat - Star Wars: Cloak of Deception. Defiant - Star Trek Infiltrator - Darth Maul's ship, which has cloaking<b
I would like to find the background texture, the one with the nebulas on it, so I can enlarge the nebulas and give them some additional colors. Not quite as bright as in Homeworld. Just enough so I can see my fog of war a bit better. Any ideas?
Are you sure about that Blue Ocean? I was told that each ship in a fleet has its own little battle, just as if you selected each one individually and sent them against the enemy. The only function the fleet performs is making movement simpler, but that it has no role at all in battles. :notsure: It would be interesting to set up an experiment to see which is true, unless you've already done that. Also, I have some corvettes with 13 attack 9 defense. So yes, corvettes can still
Man, where have you been? Don't you watch Star Trek? Ships are upgradeable by the crew! ;) heheh
Quick panel is what I call the little window that pops out when you click on a project item in your planet list (F2).
heh, something just doesn't sound right with 'Party Palace Terror Stars'. ;) I mean, if a gigantic alien 'party palace' floated into Earth's orbit one day, I highly doubt I would voluntarily decide to reject my humanity and everything and convert to that alien race. LOL
And now the information *is* stored, so therefore this should be a very quick & easy feature to add in. As for what the AI wants, I don't really care. I watch them build their ships and I *see* which planet they came from and I can jot down the name of that planet and the name of the ship, (if it were that important to me). The information is not secret. If the AI wanted to be so secretive then it wouldn't build all its ships displaying their names and the bright colors of its
In the planet production view (and quick-panel), make the ships rotate around just like the social projects do now. I don't care what a trade good looks like from the back, but I would like to see what a Dreadnought looks like from the back. :)
Some of the in-game descriptions for trade goods & wonders aren't accurate. They don't give the same level of information as the descriptions on the normal social projects. In the quick-panel the descriptions are complete & accurate for everything including trade goods, but many people don't know about the quick-panel.
Thanks. In that case I will observe some additional patience. Acelloria is doomed. No reason for me to waste energy invading it. They will fall to the Dark Side one way or the other.
Just wait until you get a better ship. If you send corvettes against an orbiting battleaxe, you will only succeed in giving the battleaxe lots of experience points and making it even harder to crack. As the game proceeds, offense gains a lot more than defense. You will see. ;) I still use battleaxes for guard duty even late in the game.
Against orbiting battleaxes, you will have to either: A) Wait until you get a battle cruiser. B) Upgrade your corvettes stats with shipyard facilities. C) Upgrade your corvettes stats by having them gain experience on easier targets. D) All of the above. Use the Galactic Battle Simulator in the Metaverse to get an idea of how strong a ship you'll need to defeat an orbiting battleaxe.
I'm currently at war with the Drengin. They had a few expansion systems but I took over most of them except one. He has made that system, Acelloria, his capital. (Cheese for the AI. Human player can't move the capital.) Acelloria is surrounded. Although he still has 14 systems under his control, I control every planet and starbase around his so-called 'capital' system for 9 sectors in every direction including a nice planet right in the same sector and another system in an adjacent sect
When you click on the 'i' button for ship information, it would be really cool if the end of the description field could say something like: 'This vessel bears the markings of the [PlanetName] shipyards.' This way you could remember where a ship was built so you could beef up your shipyards there and upgrade the weapons/defense for that ship. Also, this info could be interesting/useful to see for enemy ships as well, and could be especially useful for other miscellaneous uses l
Perhaps they could animate the ships in the production view, like they do with the social projects. That wouldn't take any more memory, since they're already animating the buildings (social projects) in that view. As it is now, it doesn't make much sense to show an animation for a building which never moves, while not animating the ships which do move. When I look at a Harmony Generator it spins around, but when I look at a Dreadnought it just sits there. Weird. :notsure:
Steps to reproduce this problem (I think): 1) Start a new tech. 2) Adjust research & spending sliders to achieve the tech in as close as you can get to a whole number of turns without going over. (For instance, to complete the tech in three turns you would adjust research bc allotment to achieve it in 2.99 turns which would result in the F6 Research screen saying '2 Months Remaining'.) 2a) Do not use the data files to figure your research spending--use the Research (F6
The lowest it can display is 'Next Month', which is GalCiv's way of saying it's less than '1 Month Remaining'. The fact that it does update correctly sometimes, but not other times is what's frustrating. I never know when to trust it or not. It's just a matter of figuring out the pattern. The situation in which it's trustworthy as opposed to when it's not trustworthy. Svalin was right though. It does take clicking the 'Done' button on each screen in order for it to update and s
Svalin, that was a good idea and I tried it but didn't really fix things unfortunately. I was hopeful, but once again I had a tech that said 'next month' but it didn't get done. :( Reloaded, and then it said '1 month'. So, while it does force the Research screen to update, the updated result still isn't correct. I have some other ideas to try too. It seems like the Research screen is somewhat accurate at the beginning of a tech before any research has been done on it, but that's just a
Monkey, I can focus on overall strategy and also manage my empire efficiency simultaneously, thank you. If you can't do that, then I'm sorry for you. If you feel like you're pulling your hair out when you try to chew gum and walk at the same time, don't blame me. And don't feel the need to sling insults at people who point out bugs, fanboy. Now, about those bugs. Any beta-testers testing for bugs, or just fancy new graphics?
Cool, thanks for settling that. :) There also seems to be some randomness involved too.
Does purchasing a social project now update the planet's 'built projects' list correctly? Is the progress bar on the Research screen back to functioning again?
