Add the ability to raze economic, political, and other capitals on conquered worlds, as well as any other "one per race" type structures.

As someone who's worked with the Stardock folks ever since GalCiv 1, let me add my thanks in here as well. You guys have constantly gone above and beyond the call of duty. Heck, I remember one day when I was having installation issues... Nakor refreshed the program build on the server to try and address my issue. It's things like that, and like the IRC room that have won me over as a customer for the long haul. Thank you, everyone.
I've never had a single issue with saved games. I suggest that you ensure that all of your drivers are up-to-date. Perhaps you should also check your system for computational errors with a tool like SiSoft Sandra, Prime95, or a memory tester as well. Galciv2 will push your system to the limits, and any issues with your hardware will show up under this kind of punishment.
Ahhhh... The sweet smell of success... And you guys should actually get paid for this one
I'd be interested to see first-week sales numbers when you have them.
As one of the aforementioned gamma testers... Yes, the game has some bugs. There's been a lot of work put into catching them, but some slip by. Others just aren't encountered. I did some pretty strange stuff during the gamma and found several bugs myself. Obviously, some of you folks are even stranger than I (And I didn't really think that possible ) Anyway.
I've been using SDC since GalCiv 1, and rarely had issues with it. The biggest problem today is that the servers are getting HAMMERED with downloads. Stardock's done all they can to spread the load. You can only have so many people downloading at once before you start having server issues, regardless of what method you use to serve it up.
It depends on your settings. You can choose to have all battles involving your forces show up in the combat viewer. Alternatively, you could set it for no battles or fleet battles only.
The other big bonus is that logistics allows you to add more troopships to a fleet, giving you a bigger landing force.
Reply to #13... On a gigantic galaxy, I build 3-4 sensor barges. Even at the sensors II level (a fairly cheap tech path), that gives me visibility everywhere I want, while still keeping my sensor barges way behind the front lines. I've only ever lost one of them, and that was when I moved it very close to the front lines. If you intercept enemy fleets before they can hit your sensor ships, there's no issue left.
I have to disagree with some of your comments about the tech path. Personally, even at war, I'll focus on economics to keep my civ operating at 100% capacity. Then again, I play at Gigantic, and the colony maintainence really adds up with that many planets. The advantage of research techs is that if they can out-tech you in the long run, they should win. At least it tends towards that direction in my games. Then again, this could be just
Well... There's another method. As the serial number has to be registered, it should be possible for Stardock to encode the serial into the download somehow and check the warez sites to figure out what serial is being used to distribute and disable it.... That, or they can wait for a bunch of stupid pirates to attempt to download patches directly, and disable serial numbers that are overused... or give them "special" patch
As the above posters have mentioned... The only "code" that there is to crack is if you can reprogram the entirety of the changes to the GalCiv2 engine and some key libraries before the 21st, using the last beta binaries for reference. There is NO way to get the release binaries short of finding someone who already has them. And that would be the Stardock employees. I can already tell you their answer... Wait until release <img
Why would you make a game tie-in to a movie tie-in to a game? Isn't the game itself enough?
@zbiggie At least you should be getting a nice pretty box with your game that way
One thing to add here... If you think that copy protection really makes a difference, then check out the "scene" release dates (Translation: When the game, movie, etc. is available in the Warez circles) and compare them to the street dates for most big programs. You'll find that even with recent copy protection, most high profile games are available Warezed starting a few days to a week before street date. For reference, check nforce.nl for a reasonably comprehensive listing of war
Heck, I bet most people find out about Warez BECAUSE of copy protection issues. It starts with CD-cracks... Then moves to the full CD's.
Except for the minor races, which are static, IIRC.
I have tio agree with Peace Phoenix. If you want to download on Day 1, then you'll need to either buy it direct from Stardock, or ensure that you have a physical copy of the game on Day 1.
Well... The address is probably needed to calculate shipping charges.
...More please.
To clarify... Multiplayer will be added if enough people PLACE pre-orders for a potential multiplayer pack at a to-be-determined date. They won't do it unless it's guaranteed profit.
I second Griffin's question.
Well... As long as I get the pretty preorder edition, I'll be happy to pay whatever Stardock wants... Heck, I might even go ahead and buy myself another copy directly from them, so that I can encourage my roommate to try it.
If you preordered directly from Stardock, you will be able to download the program through Stardock Central using your ID that you created when you placed your order.
