another classic Klingon ship in Drengin style, this time the K'tinga or D-7:
hey, so I saw all the Star Trek stuff, and decided to start in on my own spin on it: rather than direct clones as close as possible to the source material, I decided on doing ships that still 'fit' the general look of GC3's races while being obviously inspired by ST ships- like this Drenginized version of the Iconic Klingon Bird of
supposedly we're getting Steam Workshop integration in the next major patch, and presumably we'll be able to upload our ship designs there- I just wish we could set the ships the Carrier modules actually carry, because then I could use them more without spoiling my themes. anyway, I've been working on some additional classes and such- I'll post 'em later today.
calling it "functional" is a bit of a stretch. I think I've identified all the things I need to poke to get it to work, maybe, but it still either does nothing from the mods folder or crashes on startup when I try direct over-writes. they also altered the UI a bit on that particular segment, so I'm not sure if it'll work correctly even if the backend exists. I've pretty clearly defined what I want to do, the trick is poking the files until I get there. the wa
Yeah, that Baseship is spot-on too. once the Workshop's up and running, I may have to pick those up, if only to play "how many Carrier modules can I cram into one ship?" with 'em. especially as I tended to go for Basestar-inspired themes in II a lot.
O.o looks like Mass Effect had a baby with Star Trek! that's awesome! got any more?
did someone say SHIP THREAD?!?! (yes, I may or may not spend 70% of my GCIII time just dicking around in the editor) I made several ships for the Terrans while playing the campaign. first up, Tiny ships, AKA Strike craft. first up, the Seriphem Fighter, a mean little thing I usually arm with beam weapons: <img src="http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/46505189873219448/54DBBE4068E30021C59E103052D2723349AF2853/" alt="" width="1366"
MY main question would be "can we get an in-game UI to pick what the carrier modules spawn please?" because, well, while the stock ships ARE much prettier than GCII's, SOME of us are trying for a Theme, Dangit and having to build dedicated mods just so I can have my fighters match is... annoying. well, that and how I tend to fashion the 'Small' ships more as gunboats or corvettes rather than fighters, since it's closer to
yeah, I don't think I can go for longer than absolutely necessary without my custom race that sucks balls at manufacturing but can buy everything for pennies on the dollar [e digicons]^_^[/e] "factories? what factories! money goes in, ships come out!" I imagine that sort of thing will make people SO MAD when they cap a colony and it's all farms and wealth generators when the SY they just killed was pumping out a Battleship every turn. o
hey people! those of you who were, like I, players of Galactic Civilizations 2 surely remember the contributions of the modder General Pants, who brought additional options for custom races that allowed you to tweak your race even more than the base game. I had, prior to learning about the development of Galciv III, been working on my own version with EVEN MORE options, and now that 3 is out for real, I intend to bring it into the game. SO! let's tal
