Heyas all. Been playing the game a few days now. Have been learning more and more with every game. I have played like 4 games so far. Well actually 2 games and then 2 half games I guess is more accurate. Anyway....I just finished a game. I played the "Cynosian Rift" scenario. I played this time as the Vasari and played against a easy economic TEC ai. In comparison to my last game this game went faster so I guess im getting better and learning more. This game took 2:02 for me t

Well Im 38. Over the years Ive played many...many..rts games. Ive just never really gotten in to them much with maybe the exception of Generals when it first came out. I played it pretty hardcore for about 2 months. I loved the fact on it that you could goof around with hackers and do a bit different things then most....but in the end it still was basically a tank rush game like all the others. I even bought C&C3. PLayed single player for a couple nights. Did a few computer scrimmages a
Im a long time member of GS...Ive written I think 30 something reviews. I definetly plan to post one for Sins probably tonight or tomorrow. Want to play at least one more game.
Sunesen... Yeah my second game went pretty similar to yours. I learned alot on it and it lasted about 4 hours. I posted about it on another thread here somewhere. Basically I just kept my bid higher then the other guy...I upgraded all planets to get out of the red and then popped trade ports down everywhere. I basically had 2 fleets. My first fleet had the first TEC capital ship to the far left...then the repair one. Plus about 20 various frigates and I had 2 of those cruisers
That brings up a good point....devs you need to make all the option items hover over with explanations.
Also.....many new players (heck Im a new player) seem to overlook building that first free capital ship. Get that sucker done quick as one Capital ship alone can thwart off any early pirate attacks. Even 7-8 pirate ships are no match for your one Capital ship.
i start with the always classic move.. start-->all programms-->stardockgames-->sinsofasolarempire.exe its all on cruise control from there
lol
I downloaded and installed this last night. Any way to get details on what was actually in it?
Ahh ok I got it. I just fired my game up....I sent ships to 2 areas I had not been in for a while....once the ships arrived in one area....bam game ended with a victory screen. Pretty awesome actually. Was basically my second game (the first one I quit after an hour as I saw many things I did wrong). On easy difficulty of course. Game time was like 3:53 lol. Took me 4 hours to win it. Is there any of the other scenarios you guys would recommend that you have done that
hmm. Ok I guess I will go fire it up and send out ships to every system looking for them lol. I spent like 15 minutes last night chasing down this one little ship he had flying around was a pain. I dont know how he would have setup another colony but I will start looking. But if all he has is a couple mining platforms in neutral areas that wont matter right?
Hey everyone. Well I just woke up a bit ago...(yeah I know, having my own biz gives these benefits) after playing Sins until 4am. My first real game. I played on the first scenario..the random small map against an Easy Random AI. The game was a real learning experience. Figured out many things during the game I didnt understand before. Figured out the whole pirate thing and bidding to avoid raids. I figured out to pay attention to planetary upgrades to increase like the population one s
Guibs... Yeah I hear you. In my game I actually never got to the other AI lol. I was being hammered over and over though by pirate attacks. I only had one Capital ship and it alone could take out the entire group of pirates. But it made it hard for me to do much as every 10 minutes it seemed there was another raid. Im not familier with the whole bribing pirates thing...will have to look for it here when I start my next game in a few minutes.
There is a specific colony frigate (first on the left on the bottom row in the frigate build menu), and one capital for every race can colonize also. If you find that you ran out of fleet points, you can scuttle any of your existing ships (Alt+H or the little button below the unit portrait in the center) to recoup some fleet points and allow you to build a colony ship <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_2 src="http://images.stardock.com/smiles/Smile.gif" onload=ImageResizer.createOn(this)
Heyas all. New player here. I just downloaded the game today. Just finished the tutorials and played my first game (sorta) on single player but quit it after about 90 minutes or so. Basically because I had started to learn a few things and saw I had screwed up on some stuff etc and decided it was better to just start over. Anyway...a few qualifiers first... - I only heard about this game about a month ago so very new to the community etc. - Ive played many rts gam
On even slightly higher difficulty some ofthis stuff your referring to drastically changes. On the like simple difficulty the AI is much slower to colonize planets so you can typically jump on a good chunk as a result. On the higher difficulties your generaly lucky to get 3 decent systems. I generally dont go for planets under QL 14 unless times are just really hard and I need another planet badly. I will take a QL 14 planet though as you can get them up to 17 or so fairly easy
Yeah the pros here coverd it mainly....on starbases one other thing is to as they said remember you can build them anywhere. Not just on the resources. So if you have a couple trade routes going through a certian sector put a starbase in it then build another constructor and upgrade the stabase with it using the economic upgrade and it adds like 5% more profit to those trade routes. Also.... starbases can be useful I believe on trying to get a cultural victory. Say you have a c
I also have the problem on #1 that you stated. For me the volume is only effected on the Planet screens only. The music volume drops to like 50% volume on the planet view screen. Everywhere else it is fine. Very weird thing. My soundcard is a SoundMAX card (integrated thing) im running Windows XP with DirectX 9 if that helps devs any. Would like a fix for this.
Hehe, yeah Exodious same here. If you installed the bonus pak outside of Stardock or re-installed it or whatever then you have to check and make sure if you need to register again. Or else you wont see anything. If you dont see for instance the 3 shareware games below the galactic civ stuff this is whats happening to you.
Just double check what I posted above guys for those of you who dont see the patch.
On a side note.... the patch was 1.03mb for me. And seems to have installed fine.
Ok I just figured out why I wasnt seeing it..... this should be reason for everyone..... I had not yet put my registration number in on my Galactic Civilizations I guess on the Stardock program. Right click on the Dregin.net teb and choose edit account and make sure you have "Galactic Civilizations" selected on the pulldown and put your serial number in. I feel like and idiot. I think this happen somehow because I have download the bonus pack outside of Stardock and t
I've tried switching between the two servers, restarting and refreshing multiple times. None of it make this new patch appear.
Im in Stardock right now and Im showing I have I guess version 1.01.029 of the game with no updates available. My SD version is 0.99c.151 build 4.
I too refreshed several times and I see no update. Something is not right.
Yes it is enjoyable. The gameplay is a turn based strategy in space. Similar to say Alpha Centauri or the old Star Control games perhaps. Its not a twitch action game. It's colonizing planets, diplomacy, technology research etc etc. I bought the game online and have had no problems with bugs, crashes or features not working. The game is totally solid from my point of view I just finished my first game. Was a ton of fun. Now that I know basics Im starting my second game
