We have other games being reported. Is it possible you are replaying a previous save (that would update your info, not add a new entry). When was the last time you submitted a new game?
I did everything suggested by others here. Nothing worked. Then I searched the word "font" in the game folder. I found "fontdefs.xml". I found the line with "Consola.tff" and corrected it as "consolas.tff".
Doktor_oni, what version of windows are you running? We have consola.ttf in all of our base windows installs. We are wondering why you don't have that font, and why you have consolas.ttf instead.

So glad the updated driver resolved this for you. Thank you for your post Alantor, and enjoy GC3!
Woohoo! Thanks for letting us know. That is a base windows font so we don't have rights to redistribute it, so that was a problem in your windows build.
tdthread, Sorry for the issue you are having with GalCiv3. I pulled up your support ticket, thanks for submitting that. Your game is crashing because it can't access the font files: "Debug Message: LoadFontInfo failed to create font face: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\Consola.ttf, face #0. Error: cannot open resource" I believe this is supposed to be a base font supplies with windows. Any idea why it wouldn't be on your computer?</p
An Intel 4000 doesn't have any video memory. It shares system memory. So getting more system memory would certainly help. But nothing beats switching to a card with real onboard video memory.
You may be right (about specializations). That's what I thought it was a week ago when we saw an issue of this, but it was the unreachable techs instead. Speaking of which if you game started before 1.01 it might be the same issue.
We will be updating the opt-in tonight with updates to the map settings (so there will be more stars and habitable planets, especially on larger map sizes) and including a fix for the issue where you get a crash on start game (we included a fix to skip the corrupt ship design and not have the crash, but now we know why the ship was becoming corrupt).
Ethanbb, Thanks for helping me sort this out! I looked through your debug log, I even installed GC3 to the same place you do on your drive in case that could be causing an issue (it didnt). Can you send me your C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Galactic Civilizations III\Screens\Atlas\Atlas.dxatlas file. I will PM you my email address.
I'd love to get this save from you. If you could PM it to me or open a ticket with support I will check it out. We do have code in to deal with this. The only cases I have seen this problem since that fix (which was months ago) was when the tech tree has unreachable branches. In which case the game thinks you have techs left to research, so it still shows the research button, but you can't actually select anything.
Please update and let us know if this was fixed in 1.02 for you. If the game was started with 1.0 or earlier we would absolutely expect the issue exactly as you described. It should have been fixed if the game was started with 1.01 or later. So if you are seeing it with 1.02 please let us know and let us know what faction you are playing as (if you are playing as a custom faction please let us know what ship style you are using).
Good to hear, thanks for the feedback!
MottiKahn, you have the best avatar. That looks awesome. Enjoy your anniversary!
Drat. Ethanbb, can you send me your debug.err file?
We released patch 1.02 as an opt-in patch to resolve this (and other issues). Please try it out and let me know if you still have the missing screens.
1.02 is now available as an opt-in patch. Please try it out and let me know if it resolves the issue for you.
Yes, we are working with Valve on why it is still syncing files even though we have disabled it for the game. Disabling steam cloud in your steam client entirely has fixed it for customers in the meantime.
The problem we have seen is that some people have empty ship designs, no hull, no components, nothing. When the game is building your list of ships it tries to process this and crashes. Exactly as you folks have stated, deleting your ship designs resolves the problem. We have a "fix" in the 1.02 opt-in where we validate the ship file before we load it. That will keep the crash from happening. But we still don't know what causes the corrupt ship designs to be made. One play
intel i7 4710MQ 2x2.5 ghz processor 16GB RAM 64 bit system running windows 8.1 AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics card I've turned off the sound and reduced the graphics to low. The game repeatedly crashes, no error messages it just hangs randomly ALL THE TIME! not at game save not when performing specific operations ALL THE TIME. And why can't I opt-in to the patch on steam? [/quote

Sorry, we were closed yesterday for Memorial day when oyu submitted the ticket. Iv'e downloaded your saves and log files and I am checkign them out now. Thanks for submitting them!
People with this issue don't have the rights required to create the screen atlas. You can create a user with right to the game directory, give your user more rights, or this issue will be fixed with 1.02.
We are making a change in 1.02 so you won't need to run under another account to fix this.
