This might be a good place to collate all of them, so people don't have to trawl through loads of topics, the the 'Get Out of My Space' topic for the suggestions on adding in better borders with actual border control or the thread on mining Class 0 planets about... uh... just that [e digicons]^_^[/e] I mean, if we want the developers (Do they even look on the forums?) to have a gander at some of our wacky suggestions, we might as well make it easy on them so they don'

I quite like the internationally defined borders and nationally defined borders ideas, beyond the influence mechanic. An idea I would have is deploying a sensor net along your border; automated sensor probes to detect passage across the border, as an early warning system of attack or trespass. Cloaked ships would be able to sneak past with luck and the right tech and stuff, and if you already know you're at war with a race on your border, the advanced warning's not going to ma

Hm, it might add an interesting dimension to combat, but if you just built a swarm of sniper ships, wouldn't it be possible to decimate enemy fleets long before they reach you, and make them overpowered? Of course the opponent could invest in missile defences, but the snipers might be a bit too effective. Besides, I'm pretty sure the missiles are the slowest weapon type in-game (Since lasers are obviously the fastest and mass driver rounds second) which is why the defence tech

[quote who="Lucky Jack" reply="9" id="3417114"] Quoting The_Tsurani, reply 6 It would be nice to pick and mix techs, like the dark energy 'magic' techs of the Altarians or Drath with a different tech tree, I'd especially like the ability to add penalties to my race's stats so I can get better bonuses in other things - a lot f my custom races would, in-universe, have several powerful weaknesses but several more powerful strengths, like the aforementioned cripp

Ah yes, I did forget that. The Stellar Folding technology could, in theory, allow this. But it would take astronomical amounts of energy to do it, and unless the humans in the pocket universe have found a way to reverse-engineer some Precursor power cores... I mean, I guess they can get some advances out of it but it wouldn't be enough to allow all that; there would be entire fields of science that would be needed to be developed for some of the stuff this tech is supposed to do.

That might be even worse than expanding galaxies. Bear in mind that the nearest galaxy to our own, Andromeda, is millions of light-years away. In order to traverse the immense void between them in such a fashion your starships would need to have FTL engines so fast that they could instantaneously travel from one end of the Milky Way to the other, going outside the galaxy even at these tremendous speeds is very dangerous - what if you happen across a rogue star, satellite galaxy or ot

Heheh... the irony! It'd be cool if you could set certain conditions and ideologies for them, like hatred of mechanical lifeforms so that the races has a massive diplomatic penalty for dealing with them. That'd work for other people, like someone trying to do the League from the backstory to Dune, the remnants of Free Humanity who fought the Butlerian Jihad against the Thinking Machines. I had a race called the Sithrimni who were telepathic and had a Group Mind (not a

I'm just curious as to whether the ability to make your own custom race will be included in GalCiv III, and what improvements and alterations they might make to the system if it is included? I myself tend to import races I've already made up and play as them, such as the mighty Xin'Ta'Faxi Imperium, whose inherent physical fragility reduces their soldiering ability harshly, but whose telekinetic abilities and mastery of architecture and shipbuilding make their vessels
