I dont claim to have any idea what the issue is, but you could try zooming in. Vertical letters might be aligning directly over the green cell in the pixel... ehh, I doubt it. But it would be interesting to see if it grows with the font size.

Good idea. Maybe someday we'll see event-adding mods. Edit: I didn't make any sense there. But good idea.
That was already possible in GalCiv 2. Go to the Interface tab in the Options menu, and disable "Remove Functional Components when Upgrading a Ship Design".
I use this feature extensively, so I hope it returns.
Love Stardock and they may be one of the few companies that get it. [...]
So much truth there.
Seeing as GCII had teams, I see no reason why Stardock wouldn't implement it in GCIII, especially considering it was a completely optional feature.
I'd like the idea of NPC pirates. After each skirmish, a number of destroyed ships are added to the pirates' forces instead of being removed from the map. A small pirate force could realistically grow rapidly if left unchecked. Complete pirate dominance over space would make for an interesting game. Pirates would originate by rebelling from existing empires. They don't have planets, just ships. Their ethical alignment would always be opposite of the leaning of faction they
Heroes in GalCiv3 would be an interesting addition. It was partially done in GalCiv2 to a minor extent with the experience points that let a ship level up after battles. The ship was essentially the hero in that case. Taking that idea to the commander of the ship would be cool. You could then take the commander from the small or medium class to a large class ship and he'd retain the experience.
G
If you're paying $99, a different badge for bragging rights don't seem like much to ask for. On the other hand, I'm sure Stardock has plenty of work on their hands right now.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest maybe stop using IE.
Actually in space you are moving through vacuum so it is very different from moving through atmosphere. Large ships move so slowly because they displace large amounts of water. Small boats move much faster because they can skim over the top of the water, and fighters move even faster because they fly through the air. None of that happens in space. The only thing that sets a space ships speed is is thrust to mass ratio. Huge capital ships
^ Now *that's* a thought out post. I agree: custom ships aren't truly custom if creativity reduces functionality.
One of the many reasons I like Stardock so much: they value their staff and games over release dates.
I've heard of a few different methods of multiplayer, but does anybody know if there will be LAN? I'm wondering if MP can be played without relying on a server.
Thanks for posting this. I look forward to reading it!
I like tech trading the way it is now. I've read AI to AI trading is limited, so maybe that could improve. Certainly please don't remove a large and fun aspect of the game.
The AI never really knew what to do with the ships I'd give it/'em. I'd supplement their war machine to prop 'em up and 'bout 85% of the time the ships would just sit there. And, yes, I would throw currency their way to cover the cost of having 'em.
As far as the AI is concerned, it doesn't really care where the ships are stationed. If they are at war, though, I believe they do move them.
When I say more I more mean increasing the number of "cards" in the events deck. For example, say the game had 30 "Cards" which could be drawn for each event, I would want 300 "cards", not a random event each turn. Just more variety, more stories, more morale dilemmas. ect. Even if the outcome is the same as another "card", I love the storys.
I like this idea - not necessarily more fr
See post #11 here .
I think it would be neat if the "hero" characters could be hired for a regular salary, or defect if another empire offers sufficiently more. Just so that they aren't permanently associated with one empire. Recruited: Grand Admiral Thrawn Bonuses: Influence +100 Tactics +700 Popularity -100
I just want a random event to occur either to the civilization or a colony that causes the political powers at play to 'Shut Down the Government'. Since Stardock seems to have fun embedding jokes in to their dialogues, just figured this would be a nice joke to have.
I was just thinking about that yesterday! Though that might be old news by release... or not.
Thanks for the replies. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was confused.
Right I've just bought the elite founders edition. So when do i get to name my star and what sort of restrictions do you have on the name ?
From the store page: "Star names subject to Stardock approval; no vulgar or inappropriate names allowed. Star name submission will be through www.galciv3.com at a later date."
I had assumed the arms were functional as far as body support and mobilization. I've always thought of Thalans as similar to Acklays from Star Wars.
Looking forward to it, qrxtian!
It seems I'm not the only one confused by this. Neither the Founder's Edition or the Founder's Elite Edition says - explicitly or implicitly - that you actually purchase Galactic Civilizations III. Read the store page carefully before you continue: https://www.galciv3.com/store The Founder's Edition looks you're buying beta access and a $10 coupon towards the full game.
