Does someone know how exactly the AI fgures out how where are habitable planets? A little exposition, a little while back I stated: "About the AI colonizing fast: The AI most likely just knows where all colonizable worlds are at start. Else I can't explain some of the incredible snatches they pulled on me early in the game." And got this reply: "There is no "probable" to your insinuation and speculation statement. Jamming and carrier modules can make a difference, but in my recent experience, the AI didn't really use those (unless they are thalans or torians who ge 20% and 30% of jamming from techs and traits). Same for all the support modules like full damage against armor. My best guess: Mercenary ships. Some of them have stuff like take 75% less damage from kinetics, 30% jamming and accuracy, or boost missile attack of entire fleet. Apart from that, if you play kinetics, yo
How do you make it random.
I am not sure whether I understand your question correctly, but if you are asking whether you can make it random whether there are the predefined planets in a system (not home system!) or just an empty star, you ahve to add an additional star system, so you ahve the version of the system with planets and without the planets. The weight should (speculation on my part) govern how frequen

What difficulty are you playing on? What map size? How many opponents? What exactly do you mean by economics strategy? Do you mean never going negative? Do you mean a strategy which mostly substitudes manufacturing by rushing buildings?

the mining ring itself, doesn't count as automaticly updating module (just like the economic ring doesn't count as manufacturing module). You need to get mining barracks at least, after this it upgrades automaticly.

Hi, any idea what the difference between a NoRandom lane and the Outer/Dead lanes is? My initial guess would have been that NoRandom can't have strategic ressources, but starting a couple of times with the terran home system proofed that wrong: - I got durantium in the asteroids which are in a NoRandom lane - I never got thullium from the dead world Mercury in the "DeadZone" lane Other stuff that does or doesn't do things: <span style="font-size: x-small;"

868681 hexes. Think about it like this: there is one hex in the middle. Around this there is a ring of 6 hexes, the next ring has 12 hexes, the next has 18 hexes ... and so on. The number of rings is called in the MapSizeDefs.xml 380 for insane. Thus you have: 1 + 6 times the sum of all n from 1 to 380 This sum can be expressed as (n+1)*n/2 https://en.wikipedia.org/w

Before we continue with this discussion, how about we actually understand how it works first? No insult is intended here, please don't read it like one. The game mechanics implications are not very transperent unless you examine them thoroughly. This might actually be the bigger design flaw then the actual mechanic.
Last I checked, Coercion applied a penalty to raw production that stacked multiplicatively with the various bonuses to raw

Hmm, maybe some more questions: how many colonies do you have? (how many do the Drengin have? if they are ready to negotiate peace you can see this in the diplomatic trade screen below the ship and starbase section) How much population do you have on your colonies? How does your total population compare to theirs? (you can switch the minimap to various graphs or go to the timeline section in the "govern" menu) Have ypu watched your diplomatic relations before the dreng

From what I have read here, I think the problem is that they are misunderstood. The synthetic style has significantly different strenghts and weaknesses then the bio styles have among themselves. If you are trying to do a colony rush you are emphasizing their weakness, which is the early games limited production. You can't go without grabbing a few colonies to slow down your bio neighbors and preparing for a high pop cap in the early midgame when you are shuttling your populati

A little update from me: I have run another test on a medium map with 3 Genius AI's. For keeping the test clean I had no strategic ressources or relics on the map. I managed to pull even in pop around turn 63 with the leading Iridium. Below are the graphs for population and research.
So, my personal opinion and its just that is this. With the wheel the ai can in no way ever compete with the player. Frogboy mentions that they 'could' make the ai so efficient but would not be fun. I would love to see the ai trouncing players via a regular game constantly moving the wheel to eck out the very last bit off efficiency but I doubt that will happen. The Arcean, Torian and Snathi tech trees in general feel more bold and diverse, which I like. Note also, that instead they have +% research on all the techs were you get buildings, that is part of why I conclude that they are supposed to be a pop centered civ. What concerns me more about the Torians is them not having the fo

I would go so far to say that the balancing on the assys is weird. The manufacturing per pop produced is almost the same on all of them. I see little motivation to go from 4 to 6, since 6 allready takes more than a research world would produce for me. If I was rebalancing it, I would probably do something like: produce 1 pop for 30-35 manufacturing produce 2 pop for 70-80 manufacturing (35-40 per pop) produce 4 pop for 160-200 manufacturing (40-50 per pop) produce 8 pop

Hi, a quick search hasn't turned up something like this. So I am curious, what are your favorite tech trees and why? I'll go ahead and give a few assessments of my own: Favorite: The Thalan techtree just kind of has everything I want. A very convenient tech branch (early hyperion->cloisters), production improvements that boost newly founded colonies where it matters, and the various techs that boost the Thalan ships. (Though I have to admit, I love the Iconi
