For all the talk of the AI needing to improve, I have found this same issue since 1.3. The AI always, always have a higher rating than I do when I first meet them. I keep trying different tactics, and the only one I've seen that keeps me competitive is spamming colony ships and military. Whilst I can see the logical reasoning for this as a starting tactic, it does make the game less fun. I feel that rather than competing with many races for power, instead it feels like playing galactic co

What I mean is that instead of having three ideological choices, you have as many as you have personality traits. In turn this is limiting your ideological choices from potentially 60 (with difficulty) to 20, but the ramifications of those choices and how they interact with other races increases from three (good, neutral, evil) to significantmy more.

Hi all, I've had an idea recently about ideology and how to alter it in order to create a more unique experience with races you choose, and making more sense from a contextual perspective. This isn't a thread dedicated to the usual complaints on ideology (mainly how it tied to colonisation events.) Currently, we have three types of ideology - Benevolent, Pragmatic and Malevolent, each of these is broken down into four paths that gran

Have you tried adjusting the research rate to very slow on the start up options? If you focus on research you can still max it by turn 400 ish but if you prioritize other things then it can easily carry on into 600 turn mark

The game needs dialogue options (much like they appeared 'grey-out' in beta) and tied into these, more ways of gaining AND losing diplomacy scores. This wat, you could be the most powerful militarily, econimcally etc. but if you're a dick to your neighbours they will start a war with you.
I'd like to see the AI 'personality' reflected in what it will trade and what it expects. So for example a money-loving race might highly value commerce techs yet be willing to cheaply trade away trading techs. Militaristic races should want a lot for any military technologies but not care much for anything else, and so forth. That does open up the 'buy it cheaply from X and trade it to Y who

Yeah, that's been a major bugbear for me too. it would be good if the dialogue option you have when you first meet new races had some impact on diplomacy, including an always negative of you haven't researched universal translator. Diplomacy is the number one thing that makes me bored in this game as it stands now. Whilst the brilliant new AI in 1.4 will make it more challenging, I can't help but feel that this will make which races you play against re

Does this not defeat the purpose of having a larger map though? I understand the need for more planets / stars etc, but there's a setting for that. Otherwise the quickest solution to your problem surely is to play on a smaller map? Sorry if I've missed the point here, but this seems like a very low priority issue. The whole point of a bigger map is to make you feel more insignificant. Alternatively, you could build a ship with all life support and drives,

May not be a native English speaker so well done you! Personally I think that the super powerful ideaology choices aren't a bad thing, but perhaps they are placed in the wrong part of the tree. Also in regards to your theory of spamming ideology generators is that it leaves people vulnerable as they have limited production, economy and research.
Out of your 4 points I'm not sure I find any compelling. How can you take 4 items, ignore all the other core items that did translate over, and declare the game as bad based on their ommission. Espionage was never core game play and will be added shortly. <span style="font-size
I find your post well thought out and articulated. I as well have been a fan for quite some time. Although I would not go so far as to say it is a mess your post does clearly show how much of a step back galciv3 is compared to galciv2 twilight, something I guess I overlooked or did not want to see. Having said that, I still have much hope, but in the last month it seems the focus has been on sorcerer king

I like the idea that planetary governors and individual micromanagement of the production wheel only become available when you unlock the 'star empire' tech (the one following on along the diplomacy tree) This might encourage specialization late game and force the hand of people behave a more general planetary build up early game.

I've also noticed this and other issues when ending turns in the latest beta. Another more annoyingly is when you get tee research in a turn. when selecting end-turn, and you see everything being updated, tech research is the last bar lob the UI to show that it's progressing. If however a ship becomes idle, or a new colony is establisheor it will begin as new turn, yet I've not researched anything. This means I'm adding more turns onto my research
I think I just answered this over on the Steam forums. But you should be able to get to medium with 4GB.
Just trawled the Steam forums and found your post. It still doesn't help much, as you've basically said the same thing you've said here. The point I'm making is that in the previous beta, I've been playing Gigantic Maps, with all 8 majors, high

I have a low spec rig, and before it begins, I really can't afford to upgrade anytime soon. I do however scrape the minimum specs and as of 5.83, I've been able to play on a gigantic map fairly well with only 4GB of ram and computer that's around 8 years old now. With beta 5.90 (Opt-in beta 6) I now can't play above a 'tiny' sized map! When I try to select the tooltip to change map size, it will automatically only allow tiny mpas with the remainder greyed out a

Just like to say I was a huge fan of the previous Galciv games. I held off initially because I couldn't see much in terms of faction customization, but now it's been introduced, I'm thoroughly impressed. Now for the feedback: POSITIVES: This version has much greater performance than the previous patch, keep up the good work at keeping things running smoothly without compromising on the AI behaviour.

Could it not work like Frozen Synapse? The turn won't commence until all players have clicked the 'turn' button? This would be as close as it is to the singleplayer option and encourages both active and passive multiplayer games. There could be a timeout option where if a player logs out or is inactive after a while, they will automatically take their turn. It could make for interesting multiplayer gaming, so that you could have a game on the go throughout a period of months.&nbsp
