I don't think it's so much an old-school v new-school issue. Lots of people blog daily on this site... I visit and read articles at least 2-3 times daily if I can manage it. Some of the stuff here is excellent, some is paranoid dribbling. Posting whole articles on JU without permission of the authors/publishers is an issue that was hashed out long ago, and the direct word from on-high (i.e. Brad... the guy who owns this site) is that it's a "Bad Thing" because what you're doing isn't fair use unless the publishers/authors say it's ok to redistribute freely. Profit or no, the complete copying and redistribution of copyrighted materials in the manner you present them is not fair use. T

It's tough for guys really... if we talk about such things with other people, it's too often labeled as bragging, even if it's not. That and I'm of the mind that it's a thing shared between two people and not open for general discussion with others. I do not like the fact that some of my friends know way too much about my sex life because whoever I was dating at the time felt the need to share.
