Do No Evil. The corporate motto of Google. Seems like a good basic operating rule for any person or company. But how much should we trust what they say? Let's look at the main service offerings from Google. All of which are tied together by their search technology. Google Web Search - What we all know and love from google. Widely considered the

By your reasoning I could post up every song I have on CD online for people to see, evaluate and enjoy because they might be interested in hearing it. Or I may decide that everyone might benefit from having a free copy of Microsoft Windows, so I post that. I mean, they can decide whether or not they want to download it I am already familiar with the provisions and the interpretations of the Fair Use portion of copyright law. What you're doin

I don't think it's so much an old-school v new-school issue. I'm not talking about bloggers who simply post blog entries that annoy me, I'm talking about the bloggers who do nothing but copy and paste other people's work with no added comment, or the ones who simply spam the site. JoeKnowledge has been here for a while now posting nothing but his link posts. Diamond-D has been spamming his Fred Haerties stuff for a few months now too. My issue is w

Yeah, seems the worst of the useless bloggers right now are very recent additions to the site. I'll go with your guess and bet most of them will be gone completely in little over a month. What happened to the good-old-days where Marvin was our main resident kool-aid drinking right wing nutcase? He gets my vote for the most entertaining blogger on the Net These new guys are j

Lots of people blog daily on this site... I visit and read articles at least 2-3 times daily if I can manage it. Some of the stuff here is excellent, some is paranoid dribbling. And some of it is completely useless... the sort of stuff that adds no value or content to the site (I rank online diaries higher than the following blogger types simply because diary writer

You obviously weren't around when this issue was brought up for debate earlier in the year. This article provides a lengthy discussion as well as the clarification of SITE POLICY on the matter. http://draginol.joeuser.com/articleComments.asp?AID=8256 Regardless of your interpretation (which if brought to trial wouldn't hold up... I don't know what crack your lawyer friend is smoking), thems the rules.

Posting whole articles on JU without permission of the authors/publishers is an issue that was hashed out long ago, and the direct word from on-high (i.e. Brad... the guy who owns this site) is that it's a "Bad Thing" because what you're doing isn't fair use unless the publishers/authors say it's ok to redistribute freely. Profit or no, the complete copying and redistribution of copyrighted materials in the manner you present them is not fair use. T

Marvin, like always, I'd love to see some credible report saying anything about this. Is this based in fact, or did Jesus speak to you through your morning bowl of cheerios , penetrating your tin foil hat (to block the mind control beams us evil Dems use) to tell you this?

It's tough for guys really... if we talk about such things with other people, it's too often labeled as bragging, even if it's not. That and I'm of the mind that it's a thing shared between two people and not open for general discussion with others. I do not like the fact that some of my friends know way too much about my sex life because whoever I was dating at the time felt the need to share.

GreenReaper: Hrrm.... yessss..... that's what I'll do *evil cackle*.. Oh, and just out of idle, innocent curiosity... where do you live and who's your dentist? Off to play some Evil Genius now (oh the irony!)

The problem is people try and treat the Daily Show as a serious news program. It's not, they're not trying to be. They're a spoof of TV News, it just so happens that they cover actual news while making fun of it all. Saying The Daily Show is a news program is like saying the Rush Limbaugh show is a news program

Why must we support every war? Why must we all follow rank and file behind whatever our leaders say? Is that the key to being a good American? Is that what we all should do, because not supporting war is paramount to treason? Is that to say everyone who speaks out critically about the government and whatever they're doing and tries to persuade people to their way of thinking is a traitor? That's not treason, that's our right as Americans. We are

It is sad that we live in a day and age where voicing your opinion contrary to the current ruling group is considered treason. I fear for the world our children will live in if this current attitude continues.

Swift Boat Veterans For Truth.... The CBS Document Fraud.... Bush's National Guard Scandal. All a load of irrellevant BULLSHIT. Who cares who did what over 30 years ago? Look back on your own lives, if you're old enough glance back at the person you were 30 years ago and some of the things you did that you wish you hadn't given your current knowledge and wi

Way to twist and turn Gideon's words on him there Sarah. Try reading what he wrote and not what you wanted to see. He's saying the percieved value and sanctity of marraige is erroding because of the increased divorce rate (i.e people jumping ship with increasing frequency)... not because of homosexual marraige or anything of the sort. As more people treat it as a temporary thing, a deal to back out on when it becomes unpleasant, the less value it w

A few quick tips: Bar - It's under the Misc items category (the three dots). Under Misc it's in the party category (balloons). You may also want to hire a bartender for a party to keep the drinks flowing. Try ordering a pizza too to give people something to eat. Add in a good stereo and you're set to go, just wander around the party mingling with everyone. Fires - Buy a smoke detector and place it above the stove. It's found unde

What's something good that democrats in general stand for? How about protecting the individuals right to believe in whatever faith they want to? Equal protections and considerations under the law for all regardless of gender, race, religion or sexual preference? It seems Dems in general (I'm not counting the extreme liberal factions) have this silly idea that individuals should be responsible for making moral and just decisions on their own without
