"The Art of Elemental" Now that the UI has been subtly modified, wanted to post this and the thread seemed to fit the subject I like the visual style of elemental (along with many posters in this thread), and I wondered if the artist was still working on the project, cause the added buttons in the UI dont seem to blend in.. I like the leveling up of the settlements, and thought that when a defensive wall has been built (hedge wall, fortification, etc) then there should

Currently playing 1.09n108, and I recall it crashing often when I played it a few days ago, but like Mr. Hyde transforming into Dr. Jekyll, the game crashed only after 3 straight hours of play.. just in time for me to go to sleep. The Mana Pool lets me cast *many* spells at a time, and along with "pop as a resource" adds to the freedom of play. I have always played with the "Royalty" trait so that may be helping the pop grow much faster. And lack of food doesnt seem to be

I also got the "file smaller than expected" error message but I just went ahead and installed it anyway. 1.09e seemed very stable, no crash in about 2 hours of play, whereas 1.09n crashed quite a bit (especially when I reached the Archer availability point), so Ive been saving much more often. Conclusion - 1.09e for Elegant, 1.09n for um... uNfiNished..

The game mechanics feel *completely* different, a vast improvement in my opinion. After reading through the posts, I chose the Normal setting, only once did the wandering monsters attack one of my settlements (and it was an undefended one) allowing unhindered play. Enemy declared war and was a bit unprepared so lost this game.. Have to play a bit more I guess to get a better feel for strategies. NO crashes in almost 2 hours straight, wish I had more time.. and adding my kudos to the

Quoting Tridus “To a developer, those are four different things, and only "it doesn't work" actually means "broken". “If it aint broke, don’t break it” – Lil Wayne and “If it aint broke, break it” – Meat Loaf The game has to meet a lot of expectations from its players (“Do you ever yearn? … I Yearn” –Kosmo Kramer) and meeting everyone’s wishes was going to be mucho muy difficil.. (You can please som

Quoting Gazz "What's the purpose of this maneuver? I'll admit that I'm no football fan but it doesn't look familiar." This may be the result of Korean-Asian influence in the game. Fusion of Shaolin Kung-fu and football. " .. The Koreans played Tae-Kwon-do, not football, against us." - Maradona Also, for the benefit of US citizens, when we say "football", we mean "soccer" " .. I always wanted to visit the country where they played football with the hands."

Quoting Cpl_rk "..In fact, that would be one easy way to balance spam in this game, if the wandering monsters were more efficient against pioneers. As of now, wandering monster are not a factor in city spam, and only a minor problem with caravan trade routes. ", That statement is very true when in single player, but when I played a few (only 3 or 4) times online, the MP game seemed completely different when it came to early game monsters. My sovereign died so many times he w

After Wiki-ing the word "patch", wonder what kind of patch would V 1.1 be.. 1) Nicotine patch - getcha gaming fix 2) Eye patch - arrrr, shiver me computers 3) Briar patch - dont dare touch it, let alone install..

The quests themselves could be more "notable", taking a bit longer, but also logged and with clear instructions where to go (like in Final Fantasy XII, each quest is logged, with what to do clearly mentioned, and completed quests are grayed out), and higher level quests become more difficult. In Elemental, My Dear Watson, quests are usually simple, but like Gizmet said, no way to locate where to go next. And a couple times the other empires influence areas covered the Tavern where we hav

Any advice given now, based on versions prior to 1.1, are going to be superseded.. with that caveat startor, the way I played was to spam cities early, train at least a few peasants/observers in each settlment to prevent attacks, and avoid conflits with wildlife till there was enough goldozers to buy weapons and armor for my weakling of a sovereign.

Quoting: Tasunke" But 1.0 never did come out ... release version was really 0.90 but no-one ever told you ... This is like the Star Wars numbering system, where the First Movie is actually the 4th Episode, and the 1st Episode is really the Fourth Movie (Ive plagiarized this from a PC Gamer review :-D) In keeping with the Star Wars theme.. A shor

Very nice FAQ :-) Great info (Didnt know Kingdom was good and Empire was Evil, lol), and REF means continual increase (10%) each time.. read that during the game but only understood it now.. Dont know about the hate cause used to go to Gamefaq only to specific faq pages (like FF-X)

Short-cut Key, for repeating the Last Magic Spell cast. Currently have to click a few times to open spell book, choose spell etc. I would prefer to hit "M" and continue flattening mountains.. (From the Manual, Keyboard Shortcuts, M is still un-assigned.

Okay so the saved MultiPlayer game was 1.09b, so when I loaded it up again after 1.09e, it had all research starting at zero.. abandon game.. Started up a new game, map type small, and two times my spouse was killed within 5 turns :-o, sigh. Reload again. Started the save game again.. has 4 other AIs, I now think its a mistake to have more than one AI opponent, looking at my firewall it shows data transfer rates above 120k per sec!!!! it has transferred 145 MB of data already!

Yesterday I took a deep breath and clicked the MultiPlayer.. and no one else was in the lobby :-o. There were two choices of maps - Take them or leave them, I mean, Tiny and Small. When I chose small, game said it supported 16 players, so quite a lot of players who wont be able to avoid each other :-p. First time I chose about 7 AI players and the game was waiting so long to "get data from server" that I hit CtrlAltDel and the task manager said Elemental aint responding.. so kill

On a lighter vein.. :-D "Incremental, War of Patchik" Disgruntled Sovereign Buyer: What do you mean patches? We don’t need no stinkin’ patches? *grrarooowwrrrrr … oinkkk* The Gowachin Gods (source: Dosadi Experiment - by Frank Herbert) have mandated, In the Gamers Tablet of Ten Righteous Commandments, that Thou Shall Not Refuse Free Patches till version 1.3, whereupon this

Initiative based combat was there in Heroes of Might and Magic (I liked HoM&M3) Every unit got 1 attack (I think you could choose to guard instead of attacking which raised defence) every turn. Units got to attack based on their combat speed. The Hero could cast magic once every turn. Most attacks were on the settlments so that the defending units were usually behind a fortified wall which increased their defence and allowed only ranged attacks (and spells), no melee attacks, un

Elementium certainly isnt plentium in the game :-D. Theres a quest that gives Enchanged Armor which has good defence, and after some research you get the option to buy Elementium Kalamazoo Sword that costs - 12000 goldozers :-o. Havent encountered a quest where you get the sword.. I would have sold it to get 1/4th of that gold..
