* Battles * + The starting side in a tactical battle is now chosen randomly. The attacker and the defender have an equal chance to go first. This is a short-term change. In the longer term, we are moving to an initiative system (individual units moving based on their combat speed rather than each side taking a turn together). THAT..is going to suck...err the shorter term part.
It will just make batt
Could you allow the player to disable the "moved all units so my strategic turn automatically ends"? I love to some times move my units then take a cursory glance at my empire and I'm finding this to be slightly annoying.
That's already an option. Turn off auto turn end or whatever.
Yes, jandurin, you are right, the message comes from a hero (who is available for hire with enough coin). My experience has been that the city mentioned comes under attack fairly "soon" if I don't station a garrison there. Am I just unlucky? (in the game!!)
Huh, I've never paid close attention to later turns enough to see if the city that it warns you about gets attacked soon. I'd wager that's just random bandits se
but if Elemental's engine hadn't had technical issues, it would have gotten pretty reasonable reviews.
Absolutely agree. Came to the same conclusion. The technical issues were way more offputting than any PC Gamer article or anything. Gamers fear broken games, not bad games.
It seems though the focus of the current build is victory by conquest. Mainly, you build up an army and defeat your foes. All other way of winning are cosmetic IMO, since the AI is even less able to accomplish them than a regullar 'violent' victory. Besides how could you prevent that? If the AI really went for quests and decided to win with the mastery forge (or whatever it is called) or the spell of mas
My personal favorite of the series has to be the first one. It’s a matter of taste, but I think the music, graphics, branching campaign, and the epic, yet charming fantasy experience brought by the Raymond Bingham’s story all come together really well. Despite being called retro even at its release, I think Age of Wonders 1 with its pixel graphics and fantastic “mod” music (by Michiel van den Bos) aged remarkably well over 11 years.
Man

I usually spend most of my time in the Civilization and Warfare tech trees until I find a shard (magic tech treE) or decide to start messing with Quests (adventure)... I've only used Diplomacy to get Caravans and not really done much else with that tree yet.

Archers seem overpowered to the point of not being able to use them. Unless that's because I'm playing a 1.07 game in 1.08? Almost every shot that hits does maximum damage, and most shots hit.
