Ok, ill be straight up and say it. I love the Distant Stars mod. But there are stuff i hate that are in there, sorry but the music is kinda one of them and the extra effects look great but when 2 fleets of 100 ships each (not counting fighters) fly in. You dont need the drop in FPS and the light explosions disrupting your vision. So, is there a simple way to mod Distant Stars? I think the whole team should remake a mod of Distant Stars thats call

Well, heres why you should get to know me: 1: I recently wrote a tutorial for Harpo's text converter that was simple, mildly funny and has full functionality. (https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/353296/page/5/#2534208) 3: I got five karma. (I edited this reason in when i found out, hence it being number 3) But i wanted you to read it second. 2: Why I want you to know me, well i wrote something that i wanted people to comment on. Its below. <p
To: Mr Narhahahahahaahahahahahahaahahahahahahaahahahahaha. Follow this instructions TO THE LETTER. I Mean do EVERYTHING as stated here! Step 0: You may ignore the word SHIT/Shit/Shat that is mentioned over the course of the next few steps. You may try, but you may not succeed. <span style="font
Quick question and tips. Harpo, i ran the converter with the following programs still running in the background: Sins of the Solar Empire: Diplomacy game ( was testing the Galaxy Forge maps) Galaxy Forge 3 Firefox windows. MSN messenger Winamp. Then i decided to do abit of conversion BETA testing by converting the entire Vanilla Sins Gameinfo fol
^will try that
Lovely
Im not sure about this but i do realise that converting all the files to txt seem to make their filesize bigger. Has anyone ever felt that their game ran more laggier after the conversion? Btw, is there a galaxy forge that uses the files in DS?
I have just discovered the fun in modding. What happens sometimes is that after modding certain files, when i go to test the files, the program launches but goes into a black screen. Nothing happens even after 5mins and there is no alt tabbing out of there. I just have to reset the comp. My fix is to just run Diplomacy in windowed mode till I hve done all my modding and then launch it, then set it back to full screen. But is there any other fixes for this?
Where does the converter put the converted files to? i cant find them!
Don't worry dude, i have had the exact same problem and so much more.
means wether or not they can bomb the planet
I was expecting this from some noob lol, not someone from the DS team, anyone who has just alil experience modding can already see that hasBombingLevels appears on all Capital Ships. But still, thanks for your time and i do enjoy what your team has made.
Harpo, maybe you'd like to try Megaupload, otherwise I won't mind if you e-mail em to me [e digicons]:D[/e] But that is, if you don't mind. Thanks for the work you're doing round here, i still cant get your converter to work lol. Maybe labelled instructions from you would really help. Would be better than using reference data from Forged Tools.
Just download Forge Tools and edit it yourself dude. I can even mod it to a limit of 100.
As in Title and subtitle. Anyone knows what it is?
i think there a few good fixes to the problem. 1 - Pirate strength is proportional to bounty. So what happens is that every player bids an amount as a sort of 'contribution' to the pirate supply. After time limit - pirate attacks the player who paid the pirate least with a strength and fleet size that is proportional to the total amount of contributions from other players. (And they would whisper things like "Where are you hiding the rest of the money!?"
Can someone upload all converted binary files? Thanks man, the reference per version is about like 30mb max? O please do use media fire too, it would really help others download.
entityName "RESEARCHSUBJECT_MAXCAPITALSHIPSTECH7.entity" Just to note. TECH = TEC faction Tech7 = Refers to the 8th upgrade. The value within the file that is " Max capships ..... perLevelValue 10.000000" That is the AMOUNT ADDED to the cap and not the cap itself.
Hi people, is there a place to download an already file set of gameinfo data? I have already downloaded the entire ForgeTools set together with all the reference data there but Harpo said they might be outdated. So im looking to refresh all my data to the latest vers of 1.19 for vanilla, 1.05 for entrench and 1.00 for diplo. And if you are kind enough to upload all converted binary files, please use mediafire , because im sure many people here use routers and can't acce
O and i made a way to spawn within a group of planets in a Team system too.
PROBLEMS SOLVED. To play Galaxy Forged Maps - Put them into Galaxy Forge folders, they appear NO WHERE else. To reduce pirates - Im setting their upgrade rates to very low, hope this helps! To use developer uploaded tools - TRIAL AND ERROR AND GOOGLING - EXTENSIVE GOOGLING!
Harpo, no offense to your work. But i think downloading the whole Forge Tools set and using the already converted files in reference data would save HOURS. Still, keep up the good work, im sure many others have benefitted. Case closed.
