I want to make it clear that the concept is great - i.e. I personally don't want the hassle of taking payments online and undoubtedly Stardock marketing is a significant benefit to us developers. There are just a few teething problems which it would be good to address sooner rather than later.

I've found that something like the below help you identify the correct codes to use as you can do what you want(e.g. right click the system tray icon) and this will tell you the codes to use: Function OnControl(lType, lCode) msgbox "lType: " & lType & vbnewline & "lCode: " & lCode OnControl = True End function

Awaiting feedback in DesktopGadgets Stardock Forums

I've sent several suggestions directly, but not heard back so I thought I'd post them to see if they elicit a reasponse. 1) Can we see downloads for trial versions? 2) Can we get sales reports by periods quickly rather than explicitly specifying dates: e.g. this week, this month, this year, total 3) Can the published gadgets page default to "Approved gadgets" rather than "New gadgets in moderation" 4) Can we fix sales reports.

I'm also awaiting feedback on this. Personally I'd be happier if the royalties period were shorter too. As it stands it could take 6 months for a developer to see any revenue from gadgets (wait until end of quarter + 90 days). Re payment, I think pricing against the competition is key. DeskNotes is competitively priced at the moment against the competition, but I'm adding functionality, and when that is released the price will rise according

FWIW, fundamentally I have no problems with the beta here. It's a Dell Inspiron 9300 with an ATI X300 128MB, so it would appear that not all ATI cards have some of the major problems. The z-order on my machine can get a little confused, but that's running WB, DX, and CursorXP and so z-order issues are nothing new.

More important is the aims of the two sections. What should happen is that finished solutions should be uploaded as Widgets. People can still import them into DesktopX to learn how they were created if they want to, but they can also be run immediately for convenience. The Object library should be more focussed at tutorials, samples and tools that others can use in the creation of widgets. Hope this helps

thomassen, yes, it's a complex issue really as there appear to be so many permutations of the MS gadgets. The key I suppose will be functioning as a desktop and/or sidebar gadget depending on what the system has.

Looking forward to DX providing Vista integration. This will really push DX into the bigtime! I assume that DX Gadgets will continue to work on XP as well? Will we need to specify a target OSor (ideally) will one EXE suit XP and Vista?

Yes, the key for me is that DesktopX Pro is evolved to allow develop gadgets for Vista if possible. In terms of selling them commercially DX will also have the hook that gadgets work on XP, but this will be a diminishing argument over time. As so many have said, this is a time of opportunity for DesktopX and hopefully we will see more time being invested in it in the coming year leading to the launch of Vista so we can all take advantage of the marketi
