Knight is good, but I think that it makes you think too much about the medieval horse + platemail + lance type of knight. I think that 'Champion' might work. If it were already Generals and Champions, I think that I would be harder pressed to change it to Generals and Assassins than vice versa.

I do agree that the term 'assassin' is pretty misleading when it comes to defining a Demigod that doesn't control others, such as the General type. I think that something more along the lines of 'warlord' would fit better, seeing as 'assassin' pretty much always has the connotation of stealth, speed, and wit, but usually not strength, endurance, resilience, etc. I wouldn't mind if they left it as Assassin, but I do think that it could be more fitting.
Sounds pretty fun. I am also wondering if it is that arena thing that was mentioned to appear on the website since we haven't heard anything about that yet.
This is just speculation, but this might be the faery: [link="http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x101/Chirmaya/dg_maybe01.jpg"]Image[/link]
I like that idea. Perhaps with a reduced XP/money gain it would work out well so that you could level throughout as many maps as it would take. Although not all people would be up for a game of that length, so you need to take that into consideration, but I still like it.
Basically just sit in the IRC channel on Saturday and/or Sunday and it all goes from there.
I was kinda' thinking along the same lines =P
Aye. I will be on the IRC channel both days ^_^
I am hoping for something like Medieval II: Total War (or Mount & Blade) with a map containing all of the battle regions, allowing you to bring troops and Demigods over to fight for control over a new area while maintaining the defenses in the areas that you control. If that isn't in, I want to mod it in! =P
Ooo, I would be up for this ^_^ I am currently job-hunting, so any time/day would be pretty much fine for me for now aside from 2 AM - 8 AM CST. We should also get a list of Ventrilo/Teamspeak servers that we could use as well, since talking with other players makes the game that much more fun =D
To clear this up, Demigod hasn't been released yet. Multianna has either mistakenly posted in the wrong forums (doubtful, but possible) or made this post as a joke.
The closest info that we have on this so far is from a Gamestar article run through a translator:
We want a voice chat feature and a command menu for the AI allies.
This could mean that they want a voice chat for the players or that they want AI allies to voice notifications. So yeah, nothing concrete yet, but in-game voice chat in a game like this would really fit.
Awesome news! I was really just expecting just skirmishes or something, so this is just great. I can't wait to hear more info on this ^_^
Nothing in-game will carry over from one match to another (aside from perhaps stats, which in turn can possibly give you some sorts of aesthetic options. A lot of the fun comes from starting with a fresh slate to work with, choosing this set of abilities or buying those certain items differently. If you were to do matches that have players keep the same character, though you would lose the "clean slate" appeal, you would be able to rush right into the fray with many flashy abilities, which might
Nevermind that last post. Firefox needed a restart for some updates to make those silly layouts work >.<
Deleted.
Looks great! Typo at http://www.demigodthegame.com/features.asp: "Simple contols based on your Demigod's play style" Didn't notice anything about the "Demigod Arena" that was hinted at appearing on the website.
Basically it will be up when it is ready, which could be pretty much any time between now and when the beta starts =P I would bet that it will come out quite a bit before the beta does.
The thing is that there are already skill trees where you can choose new abilities an' stuff. We aren't sure of the layout or skill list yet, but they will be unique for each Demigod. I think that I might have heard that they will be more "simplified" skill trees, but I am not 100% on that. That is pretty much your idea, unless I mis-read. But as far as the idea goes, I agree with it ^_^
I am hoping that the forums will get an overhaul as well. But just getting the website updated will be enough of a change for me for a while ^_^
I'll be in there! If voice-chat isn't supported, I will be on Ventrilo or Teamspeak with whoever wants to chat while playing ^_^
Great news! Hopefully there will be a pile of new info as well =P
Mine hasn't shown up in my invoice/previous orders as well. I think that could be due to the fact that it hasn't been charged, but there doesn't seem to be a way to access that information for some reason.
You are pretty much right-on, BigOne. You also gain experience from killing units so that you can gain levels and choose skills from a skill tree.
Thanks for the link to the pre-order page, got it all ready for the release now =D
