It's really moot for myself anyway stark(I'm sticking with XP regardless), but I just wanted to compare what someone else comes up with after scaning their PC with the WinVista advisor...the first two selections: Strengthen Security & Search and Organize as you know are chosen by default since both come with all editions....I then picked Elegant User Experience w/Windows Aero & all came out fine - this is were I get the "ALL CLEAR" Vista Home Pr

That's strange Sir starkers because,( I don't want to bore you with this), I'm running AMD/Xp 3200+(Barton core) with Corsair XMS 1.2gig DDR SDRAM dual channel 3200LL...also my video card is an ATI X850XT 256mb Platium Edition - you'd think I'd be past at least the Home Premium Edition, but not according to the upgrade advisor!! <img src="ht

desiRex, Just wanted to ask if you'd be kind in posting your basic PC components; CPU, MB, Vid-Card, Memory(type & ammount)....Just wanted to know since I DL the WinVista Advisor for my 32bit system: Athlon 3200+, Abit AN7, ATI-256MB/X850XT PE, Corsair 1GB-(TOTAL) CMXS512-3200LL(two sticks). After the scan I received an "OK" for the Vista Home Premium package. THX for the info!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smile.gif" bord

I've had the same problems like WebGizmos & kenwas but just take it as it comes & hope for the best...sometimes changing off browsers helps; FireFox/Avant/Opera, etc...I don't think these problems will ever be fully ameliorated simply because of the high traffic here in all areas & sections. Hope the new super server works! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/sm

I think your right Chasbo!!! Now especially with duel video cards in Sli/Crossfire, duel core cpu's, 8+ gigs of memory, multiple HDD's in Raid config,...you name it!!! PC's have really hit the high rent district for certain...the one aspect however that keeps me from buying a Mac is the ability(with PC's) to totally control customization over both the software & hardware I choose. Intel/AMD(processor), Abit, Asus, ESC,Gig

Paul, I've always wondered how long it would take to scan 4 physical HDD's in RAID configuration along with having to defrag all that space as well....guess when you start you just leave everything running & hit the hay!!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles

Sounds good....obviously there's going to be problems/fixes needed since Vista will be so new. I really don't care for console/game players like Xbox & PS with SLI/Crossfire available. It's great MS is working all of the added features toward PC gamers like myself. Thx Brad! <img

Thx tons Mithun Pal for this information on AV/SW - Wonder if BitDefender ways heavily on system resources??? Alot of AV/SW apps really degrade system performance & speed...after uninstalling various AV software I've noticed a big speed boost like just after a fresh install of Win.Xp. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddl

ID, I'm not the greatest PC game geek in the world but I'd stick with Nvidia - they seem to have got a jump on ATI this time around & even checking cus. comments at sites like Newegg the AGP cards (for example the 7800GS') which are still available are getting rave reviews with cpu's like your present one!! I can't imagine what the newer SLI/PCI-E ones are like!!! This might be a better "stopgap" alternative than replacing MB/Ram
