UPDATE: Hi everyone, I have been busy trying to get things to mesh well, and deal with the new update from Ironclad. Here are some new screenshots. The Carrier is now done, now known as the Atlantian Hive ship. The Capital ship factory is also done, costing 3 times the normal amount, and taking 3 times as long to build. But there is a payoff, bumped up stats, and sheilds! Here are the pics. Please let me know what you think! Atlantian Hive Ship: [img]http://i255.photo

ManShooter, WOW! I missed a lot in the past few days. First, thanks for telling me how you made those awesome models. I have XSI, I just have to learn how to use it. Secondly, OH MY GOD! What awesome models you have done. Most excellent work! Keep it up, and I will definatley beta test this thing too. Incredible. Keep up the good work. You have far surpassed my idea for a new race, you took it to a whole new level. Perhaps, when you are done this awesome mod, you might be able to h
To all who have replied so far: I am SOOOO glad I am not the only one who misses MOO2. And yes, the did make MOO3, but it was horrible. The space exploration and the planet graphics were good, even better, but the battles absolutley sucked. The fun of MOO2 was designing the ship and then seeing it in action as you controlled it in battle. MOO3 took this away. A game that was not ready to be released...excactly. I was waiting for some awesome update that would fix all the problems, espe
Greetings All, I just wanted to get this thread going, so hopefully there are others out there like me. Is there anyone oit there who would like to see the STAR CONTROL or Master of Orion races in the game? I am a huge fan of these, and still play them today. These classic space games first wet my appetite for space strategy games, and I would love to see them brought to new life in the Sins world. If there is anyone out there who wants this or is interested in
Uzii, Once again you have out done yourself. I had no idea that you added 4 more planet types. I am becoming a big fan of your work. You are really bringing back the old games of exploration, like Master of Orion and Star Control. I plan on downloading them immediatley, as I was waiting for you to update the mod for ver. 1.03. With your permission as before, I plan on integrating them into my Atlantis (Ancient Ones) mod, and merging it with Bailknight's mod and the skybox mod, all with
ManSh00ter, Congrats so far, a very interesting mod. I see that you got the whole "adding a race" thing down. I would love to download this when it is available. How are you creating the 3D models? They look awesome. Also, did you create them from scratch, or did you load in the game's original files as a base. I am trying to do the same for my mod, but can't seem to work with the original files, and I don't have time to make them from scratch. In either case, excellent work so far
Captain and Pious, Thanks for that idea. If I have time I will experiment with gold and white colors to give them a "noble" look. Since they are Atlantians, they should probably look "wise", since they are more advanced than anyone in the galaxy and created many races themselves. DANMAN
I hope there is, because I can't find any modeler that will use the MESH files yet. DANMAN
The great Uzzi comments.... Thank you! This is the mod I want to ue your new planets with. I hope you will like it. I will work on the Carrier ship next. As always, I will keep you up to date. And I love those new planets. Very good indeed. I hope to see more from you soon. DANMAN
Once again Uzii, my hat goes off to you. Like I said before, I might try messing with your Urban planet's textures, for all those Star Wars fans out there who want Corosant. And once again, I am asking for permission to use this in my Atlantean mod. This totally rocks. Check mine out if you want. It is under the "Ancient Ones" post. DANMAN
UPDATE: Here are the screenshots of the completed Atlantian Battleship (Vasari, just modified). Now the ship looks even more mean than before! Keep the comments and suggestions coming! You can see where I added all the "tribal" stripes. The thing looks like a spider now! An update: I DO NOT have 3Dmax. I can't afford a $3500 program for a hobby. I thought I had this already, but apparently I got my programs mixed up. I just have DAZ3d and the SoftImage program. That custom 3dMax script won't work for me. I am still looking for a way though! DANMAN
Rotorfib, Keep up the good work. Be sure to post any of your ideas and questions to get help. I find that we have strenght in numbers here, helping each other out. I am going to try the 3Dmax route, but I also don't have the money for that program. I might have a friend who has it and convert the files for me. I am just agitated that the prgram the Ironclad claims to have used for the original models cannot read those same files. It will load the actual file, but then there is no conte
Terraziel and Tenk: Thank you very much for the info! Hopefully this will work. I still find it frustrating though that the 3D editor that Ironclad suggests to use or claims that they have used in creating the original files does not even seem to support the MESH format, or have a converter that turns MESH files into XSI files. If someone knows of this, please let me know. Thank you all for your help. Please keep posting suggestions and comments! DANMAN
TO:Rotorfib, Mansh00ter: There is no limit, as far as I can tell, and MannSh00ter, you are right. Every race needs all of its own files and ship textures and MESHES, and MESHES are what I am struggling right now with. I have many 3D programs, and I can't figure out how to edit the ORIGINAL files. I can make brand new ones, but for the Atlantians, I just want to modify the Vasari ships for now. Rotorfib, you have to create new ENTITY files for the race, then inlcude it in the STRINGS>E
To All, That's what I thought. I have DAZ3d, 3DMAX, and the SoftImage that Ironclad tells you to use, but to no avail. I guess I have to wait unti the final mod tools comes out....hopefully. However, if anyone knows how to do this, please post! Thanks, DANMAN
Uzii, Once again, you have out done yourself. Excellent work. And once again, I am asking for permission to include your mod with my Atlantian mod. You have truely gone above and beyond to incorporate some of the best features of my favorite RTS and 4X space games, like Master of Orion 1 & 2, Star Control 1,2,& 3, and the Homeworlds. Planets in those games had different bonuses and traits, and you have brought them alive and into the next generation of space gaming. I am trying to work
UPDATE: So far, so good. 2 capitals now done, with new stats and textures to make them different from the other Vasari looking ships in the galaxy. I am trying to figure out how to modify the original MESH files in order to actually change the ships appearance without creating a whole new ship. As far as the first free CAP ship getting eliminated, I am at a dead end. I cannot figure out how to turn that off. To get around this, I will make the CAP ship factory cost triple, inclu
To Uzii and Mexxa, That's the problem, the files that are provided with the mod pack include the ConvertXSI.exe program, but does not tell you how it works. The other thing is that I think you need XSI files, which you feed into it to get the text file (mesh) for the mod. The problem with this is, from what I have run into so far (someone help please!)is that all the original files are MESH files, not XSI files. The program provided works the other way. I need to be able to edit the orig
Has anyone successfully edited the prexisting MESS files in Sins? I want to edit the original ship designs, not completely make new ships. I have installed the SoftImage 3d software as directed by the develepers in the Mod Tools help file, but I still can't get the original ship MESH files to load up, hence I cannot edit and change them. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. DANMAN
Thank you all for your input. I have been playing around in the files to find the option to turn off the first free capital ship. That would make it harder for the Atlantian race to get that first cap ship out, and will not be able to rule the game early on. The other thing I am trying is to have research requirments for these ships, in order to delay them coming out. So far, I have the battleship and carrier done, and they are amazing. They can still be taken down though, so that are no
UZI, Don't worry, I will give you the credit. And thanks. From what I have seen, all your stuff is awesome. I plan on adding more to my games with your spectacular mods. Here's and idea for you, how about a Dyson sphere? (Startrek). It is a colonizable star. Of course you would need to make the star look like it was made by the Borg, but if you can do an Ocean planet, then you should be able to to a star too. Thnk about it, and the population would be HUGE. As it is a
Lord Allen, I have strickly played the Vasari, and can tell you that you can shut off the phase gate's ability by turning off the autocast. Just select the gate, then click the button and your done. When your ships get killed off, the ship cap will go back to normal, allowing you to build more ships. I had the same problem, and this fixed everything. It is a cool tech though, epsecially if you need ships and are low on cash and need to defend your planets. DANMAN
I agree with you, I experienced that the new Atlantian Battleship I created is very powerful, almost too much. I am now considering increasing the cost even more, and perhaps require tech advances to unlock them to make things more balanced. When I am done, all ships for this new race will have double the stats, but with triple the price and build times, and perhaps some will have a research requirement. This will balance them out more, and allow a player using them to have a challenge un
Ok, So far, so good. The new "Atlantian" race is coming along nicely. The Vasari Battleship has been converted, and is now the Atlantian Dreadnaught. It has twice the stats, alog with extra weapons and groups of fighters. I also changed the experience leveling so that you get a new squad of fighters/bombers per level. Now the battlefield is swarming with attack craft! This ship is capable of shooting attack craft down too. It is also twice as expensive, but I am thinking about making
