The only "horrible mistake" is you not setting your cursor to move faster. "Distance" is not a concept that applies when talking about monitor size or resolution. There's no difference in distances on a high res or low res monitor if you set your cursor settings properly. Tech screen is fine.

I don't have a problem with carriers being good. But they should have a role in a fleet, rather than be the fleet. When a carrier has the potential to be 5x as good as a same-sized non-carrier ship, that's a problem. Carrier modules should probably be larger. A carrier should indeed be more logistically efficient than a fleet of tiny fighters, but not so much that it's overwhelming. Modules should perhaps be increased in size
"Oops, I fired the missile out the wrong end again, sorry about that." I've seen this happen with beam weapons as well.
When you design a new ship, there's the "blank" template (the little cube) and the other pre-designed ships you can choose from (Defender, Cutter, Fury, etc.). If you save as a template, that design will be added to the list of designs to choose from. If I make a Small ship and call it "Best Ship Ever," I can then start a new game, research small hulls and choose to make a new ship based on "Best Ship Ever" - no other tech needed, it will appear right along side Fury and the o
I spend a lot...maybe too much time in the ship designer. I've noticed that after loading a game and resuming play, the designer parts don't have the colors they should have for windows, lighting, etc. For example, the Yor have mainly green lights, like in this ugly ship I threw together to test this bug: Everything looks good. Lights are green and yellow. Then I
Here's a tip to use until they fix #1 (planet production % changes): Instead of exiting the planet view, click the arrow to go to the next planet then click back. It's a little bit easier, at least.
All techs unlocked, 1 huge carrier vs. one huge ship. I gave it every weapon type and reload boosters so it could shoot down as many fighters as possible... ...it couldn't get even one shot fired. It was an impressive attack though. :D
I just got the 2nd trait of outreach and it gave me a Class 21 planet. [e digicons][/e] Hey, I'll take it!
I think the big problem here is that the AI too readily trade away their technology. They aren't very protective of it, and seem to swap it with each other a lot. If you're not trading too, they'll outpace you. If you ARE trading, you'll blow through the tech tree in no time. Lose/Lose IMO. AI is still waiting for big, big improvements so I'm not worried just yet.
I think some people are misunderstanding the main issue here, so allow me to emphasize: Starbases do literally nothing to ships. Not a scratch. Any ship with a weapon can take out any starbase ----- no matter what. I just had a tiny, 6 HP, 4 attack, 0 defense ship destroy a 21 attack (7/7/7), 9 defense (3/3/3), 80 HP starbase without any damage. That should not happen. Starbases de
