Personally, I would prefer to minimize planet-level micromanagement. Still, something about the metal/cash relationship needs to be changed, and increasing base tax revenue seems like a reasonable idea.

Hmm... I think that you and I are laboring under slightly different definitions of rock-paper-scissors, so I'll try to provide a better explanation. For an example of what I consider RPS balancing take a look at Rise of Nations. There each unit is hard-coded to have significant damage bonuses against some units and significant weaknesses against others. The classic example is that heavy infantry are designed to absolutely crush cavalry. I don't actually have a problem with this, because
Yeah, but then only refineries and trade centers were 2 logistics. All other orbital structures were one. (Asteroid mines have always been zero) Considering that we also need more labs now, I would say our logistics capability has gotten worse, not better.
I don't think we need a new ship class. The main problem is that we aren't really using any cruisers. As long as it takes less research to get a capital than a cruiser, we're all going to jump to capitals, which is why we have so many in our fleets. If we were forced to get some mileage out of our cruisers, then capitals would become the rarities they are meant to be. Also, I really dislike classic rock-paper-scissors balancing. Right now Sins is reasonably close to achieving an
I find suggestions of anarchy or immediate overthrow very counter-intuitive. I'm not sending ground troops down to conquer an existing populace, I'm nuking that populace from space and then sending in colonists. My new colony probably outnumbers the remnants of the enemy settlement, and is going to be far better organized. The idea that enemy culture would somehow make my citizens immediately turn against me seems laughable. After all, some of them may have seen with their own eyes what
The AI does seem to focus too much on certain ships though. More than once I've thought I was about to have a serious fight on my hands, only to watch the AI charge its 30+ cobalts straight through the middle of my fleet just to take out a handful of siege frigates before running away, taking horrendous casualties the entire time. There's nothing wrong with attacking key ships, but if its going to do that the AI needs to split its ships so I don't just get a ton of free shots. If 20 of those fri
I think one of your opponents researched insurgency. The "rebels" created by this tech are marked as pirates, and appear to be able to spawn anywhere.
Umm... Why does everyone think a dreadnought should beat a battleship? H.M.S. Dreadnought essentially served as the prototype of what later became the battleships. Almost any WWII battleship would have beaten it to a pulp. I see the Marza as a quickly cobbled-together stopgap from before the TEC developed the Kol. It's basically a bunch of guns strapped to a hull, rather than a ship designed from the ground up for fleet combat. I think the biggest problem with the capi
New capital ship abilities should not default to auto-cast. There's nothing worse than seeing a lvl 6 Kol fire up finest hour the second you add the skill because it got scared by a local frigate.
I personally think they simply need to increase the base logistics by one for all planets, even the dead asteroids. That should provide just enough breathing room while still forcing expansion.
My right alt and ctrl keys don't seem to do anything, even though I know the keyboard isn't broken. Game won't end if pirates wipe out the opposing AI.
I think right now they just pop up at stars.
My right alt button doesn't work. (Due to a quick ctrl-alt-delete I know my keyboard isn't broken) The light factory gives off a gigantic piece of debris when destroyed. It looks like only the object's scale is off, but right now it is bigger than the factory itself. There is a noticeable delay between when the Kol's gauss cannon hits it's target and the damage is actually dealt. The scuttle button is tiny . I'm starting to think every planet/asteroid/wh
"I got my email and the updated Beta 2 appears in my stardock central, yet when i try to download it, nothing happens.... I registered it with the serial key in the register screen so I am at a loss. Any suggestions?" Did you check the pre-release versions box at the bottom left? Before I did that Sins showed up but it was like a placeholder for a demo or something.
I loved the 3d starmap, and I actually thought dealing with obsolete ships was one of the cooler parts of the game. It added a huge amount of strategy in when to roll out a new ship class and how to best utilize the older ones. The guys at KP are also really good about updating the game and talking on the forums. Unfortunately, my game disc is someplace very far away, so I haven't been able to play in quite some time. Still, I'll probably pick up a copy of Born of Blood
