Just started playing with the mod, so far it is a blast. No technical issues so far at turn 100 on an immense map, genius level with just the mod races included. Couple observations so far: Terraforming seems to be overpowered, after getting the first tech i can terraform entire planets, this is similar to an older mod that was going around last year. it is fun to build these huge planets but it is very OP if the AI cannot make good use of it. It also makes some of the ideolog

Unfortunately the hotfix broke my game, I was able to continue playing after 1.8 by doing everything manually but since the hotfix the game now hangs during the AI turns and nothing i can do there.

It would be very useful to have a strategic map on the planet build screen. On larger maps with abundant planets you can easily forget where a planet is located in your empire and which role was assigned from a strategic point of view. Inner planets tend to have significantly different builds than outer frontier planets so easily seeing the location on the strategic map would be useful. On that subject, being able to assign a planet to sponsor a shipyard straight from the planet

I can pretty much confirm that's what it is now. I have played all day without any errors as long as i control all ships manually and "discover" anomalies or colonize planets during my turn. I even got all my saves from previous games to work. Just to confirm, I used a save from my current game and reset six ships to "Survey" and pointed some colonizers directly to planets and the game crashed after a dozen turns once multiple events popped up.

Definitely looks like it is an automated discovery thing. I put all my ships on manual and ensure I only grab anomalies during my turn. I was able to revive the games thatv were crashing that way. Looks like if several anomalies or colonization events happen simultaneously the game cannot handle it and slows down to a crawl followed by a hang or a CTD.

I have now tried four different games with the last one being pure vanilla version 1.8 game with no custom anything or mods. still slows to a crawl and then hang plus CTD. The 1.8 update has definitely introduced something that makes this game hang once the 1.8 update is installed. I shut down every ship I had that was on auto and only "discovered" anomalies during my turn instead of pointing ships straight to them. I was able to get beyond the point I crashed several times this

Easier question, how do you force a custom race to start at a particular star in a custom map? I downloaded a map off of steam and tried assigning start locations to my custom races but the only option is "random AI" or "Random Human". being the only human makes it easy for me to start at the required location but my AI races have a slim chance of getting it right.

Reinstalling does not help, nor does putting it on an SSD. My system is fairly powerful with a core7 3930K 32 GB RAM GTX980TI and all SSD and none of it helps. Originally I thought it was your mod for the colonization events that made the game act as it did, seemed like it happened every time I was colonizing a new world. I restarted the game with mods disabled but the behavior returned so it is definitely not the mod it is inherent to the 1.8 update. I tried everything including running a va

Now it has crashed for good. Cannot get any further so i guess I need to wait for the next update. Shame, I was enjoying this game.

OK, three times is not a charm. Immense custom spiral galaxy with common/common/common downloaded off of steam with 5 custom races made with the designer so no cheating. 1.8 with all DLC and add-ons including terrans, 32 GB RAM, 6 core Intel chip, EVGA 980TI, game and OS loaded on Samsung EVO's 850 so hardware should be OK. Game crashed around turn 230, first it slows to a crawl then goes black screen and need to go to task manager to exit. I played it through with 1.71 so it is definitel

[quote who="Frogboy" reply="53" id="3609686"] I think most of us agree with many of the points people raise. It's a question of severity and prioritization along with analysis. I just watched the new Star Wars movie. I loved it. But if you go to the IMDB reviews, it has plenty of people giving it 1s. The point being, no matter how good your product

[quote who="Frogboy" reply="39" id="3609493"] You see, every GalCiv ends up with the same thread like this one. You have a the resident critics endlessly complain that the latest update wasn't good enough. I'll come on and basically tell them that maybe they should just leave. " Every game has a guy or two like him. You eventually just have to tune them out or you end up just not visiting the forums anymore. " Seriously Frogboy? As of today the thread for the mod constructed by Naselus has 655 Replies and 33800 Views. You might want to take a look once in a while and try to figure out why. Been thinking about carriers a lot lately. How about forcing them to be used sparingly or as the center of a "fleet" as the main capital ship like modern blue water navies? Would it be possible to assign a special logistics category based on the purpose of the ship as opposed to hull size? If a ship ends up with carrier modules the logistics goes up to 30 or even 40 and the maintenance goes up significantly, this would force the player to use them sparingly and protect them with other ships.<

One idea for the artifact event would be to let the conquering civilization that eliminated the threat gain the bonuses. That would precipitate a whole new conflict with a significantly elevated threat. In my game right now the Snathi Revenge just got the artifact in turn 235 where they are down to 1 small class 8 planet, I kept them alive to see what they would do, kind of funny that they keep threatening me when I have 157 planets. I am playing on insane/abundant/abundant with the Naselus m

As it stands the threat posed by some of the mega events, Dread Lords and Peacekeepers in particular, can be minimal on larger maps. By the time they appear the player is usually advanced enough to eliminate any threat they could have posed. Could the threat level of these events be an option on a slider with minimal, normal, high and suicidal? On normal the threat would be as designed today. On high and suicidal the Dread Lords and Peacekeepers appear with significantly more advanced
