Or any planet, really. What if your Survey Ship comes across a habitable world and you tell it to survey the planet before your colony ship arrives? Better yet you can make these surveys take longer, reduceable using technology. This adds greater value to Scouts that can keep exploring while your Survey Ship commits to longer missions. Maybe some sensor technology lets you find things you wouldn't otherwise find? Naturally the habitability of the planet wouldn't be aff

Oh, I think having uninhabitable worlds is an absolute must, don't get me wrong. However I just think it's a waste of time to have worlds that are both uninhabitable, even if permanently uninhabitable, that also don't have any other purpose. Which is what Evil Max War picked up on. Even if you can't settle them you should be able to do something with them which is the root of my point. So no, I would never advocate the non-existence of uninhabitable world

It seemed way too obvious for them not to, which is partly why I brought this up! I'd love to see some of the smaller things as well. I think the more character the game has, something Stardock is never usually light on anyway, the better it'll be. Particularly the genocidal rabbits. I can see that being both hilarious and fun. If not, well, that's what mods are for.

Nothing on the map should be without a use or a purpose. By not making use of that I feel like this game, and the ones before it, are lugging around dead weight for really no reason. At least that's my opinion! Let me explain: On the map you have an assortment of objects. Right now you mostly have planets, stars, and asteroids. Starbases are constructed later on. Right now you'll sometimes have planets spawn with absolutely nothing at all. No asteroids or planets. Othe

It seems to still disagree with having the dual cards in a laptop, at least for me and my 555M coupled with the generic integrated card. I'll pass this along to the development team using the support link that Lucky Jack provided, that should shed some light on this issues. That aside I've been playing away on the desktop.

Naturally I updated the driver first thing. I've actually since managed a sort-of fix for this. I had to completely remove the Intel card drivers, everything. This caused the game to launch but with a blank UI and terrible frame rate. Running it on my gaming desktop went just fine, though.

Here, I'll walk you through it just in case you're not sure how. Go to your Nvidia Control Panel. This can be accessed through the control panel or the notification around your system clock. Go to Manage 3D Settings. Open your game list and look for Galactic Civilizations 3. If it is not there click the Add button and add it. Click "Select the preferred graphics processor for this program" and make sure the "High-performance Nvidia processor" is selected. Click

Are all of these cases on laptops with dual video cards? I actually finally managed to get it to launch on my laptop only to have the same issue. I have since moved to the gaming desktop that was built recently and have been playing it without a single problem.

I tried forcing the Nvidia GPU in a number of previous starts. There was a change, mind you: All text vanished from all menus and the frame rate dropped to nothin'. However I still got the same crash with the same debug, except with mentions of Nvidia instead. I'll see if I can come up with anything new.

Looks like you and I have a similar problem that I mentioned in my own thread . We're also using the 500M series card from Nvidia. Something might be up with the driver for that series and the game right now. Have you tried updating and/or using older versions of the driver? I'm doing that after I get some rest. Good luck!

Long time player of Galactic Civilizations here. I've gone from being a pimply-faced middle schooler to a much less pimply-faced Systems Administrator in the amount of time that I've been playing Galactic Civilizations. I'm more than thrilled to have the Founder's Edition and be part of the Alpha for the next incarnation! Sadly, the Alpha isn't quite as thrilled to have me! I'm obviously not alone here but though I'd throw my report in
