Well, instead of giving ever ship a bonus to firepower, why don't flagships of different races have special abilities that are very typical of their side. Also, the TEC flagship might be slow and especially powerful, the Vasari flag might instead be fast and able to open up jump points/wormholes to allow extra mobility to the whole fleet. The Advent might be something completely different, adding defensive bonuses to ships in orbit of a friendly planet. I don't know enough about these m

I'd prefer to just see artefacts be expanded a bit. Considering they are alien artefacts or something that has great power that we can't reproduce, it would be nifty if we'd need to build a structure to actually use them. Sort of like a Artefact Research Center or some such. Also the artefact Tech tree should be expanded to make more sense not only of the process of understanding what the artefacts do, but also how we could implement them in our ships/on our planets. Of course
Perhaps this has been raised before but let me put it up for discussion: Enable capital ships to shrug off small arms fire from un-upgraded frigates and fighters (not bombers). Company of Heroes had this inplace as you couldn't actually damage a tank without giving your infantry squads explosive or armour piercing weapons to get past armour. Granted, the whole HP system was different in that game but perhaps something similar might be used to make Capital Ships more... Capital. <br/
In regards to the Flagship idea, I like it the sound of it. Sort of reminds me of the Super Star Destroyer which is totaly badass. Problem would definetly be balancing it without forcing players have have big showdowns with one single big fleet. It's not exactly possible for an opposing player without a super capital ship to hold off the enemy fleet so they are bound to lose planets. I suppose the player could play like the Rebel Alliance, using small hit and run tactics to cripple the
Being new myself, I agree with you on those points. As far as I know and have read on the boards all those points are known and either fixed internally by the devs or are in the works. A new member welcomes another new addition to the boards and game. It's fun eh?
I have to agree with the planet experience idea. I suppose that can manifest itself in two ways. XP or building expensive and long to build super enhancements that specialize your planet. Population oriented entertainment centers that double population cap and reproduction rate, Computer Complex that increases logistics by a few points but makes the infrastructure really weak or A Military HQ to increase damage of defense installations. The specializations are very fire and forget since
I suggest playing on a small solar system with maybe 10 planets. You will expand quickly, meet the other player, start to have a few skirmishes with your scout frigates but never have the time to gain big fleets as you would in huge games. Anyway... just make a small game. Small games are quicker, you can't get lost and taking over one or two planets will make a huge difference and therefore more fatal.
That is definetly a Video Card or Driver error. I've had that with a faulty Video Card when it refused to intitialize Direct3D draw. If it's a one time occurance for a brief time then it might've been a hiccup of sorts. If it happened during the power surge then that might be your explaination. Or... your video card had a heart attack and the surge revived it. Ok that creeps me out...
Well... I have to say that capital ships should retain their weakness to bombers. I am part of the camp that says combined arms. If you can pay for a capital ship then you can pay for a few flak frigates. Once the patch is out then they should prioritize fighter craft and your problem would be gone. As far as current Capitals are concerned, I don't think they should be any more expensive as they are now (I don't really think they are expensive tbh, you get so much money and metal later
Pirates are a horror when you don't have a prepared planet and easy xp once you do because they don't usually change their main target much if you stay as you are. Good thing about pirates is that they give your capital ships a stream of experience. It doesn't take a lot to take them out, just a few Hangars with bombers and a capital ship or two. Make sure that if they get through, increase security and get yourself the planet shields. But all in all: Hangars to defend your pl
Very true. While not my intitial intention, I couldn't stop writing. Next time I'll be sure to add a too long; didn't read warning. Regardless, if this was voiced earlier then shame, only now jumped on the train. Thanks anyway
Holy.... you're posting this everywhere... But I wanted people to actually respond here damnit... lol.... Ah well, Zero
Oi! .... Drop the post and put your hands on your head.
Haha... no doubt. I wonder how long until someone finishes reading it Sorry for the long post but felt like writing a bit. I was also going to say that this post is not about answers, it's about suggestions and getting people (including devs) to think about new ways of sorting problems and adding balance. Nice first post on these forums for me too <img src="http://
I've delved into Beta 2 without having played Beta 1 so I might not appreciate some of the changes that have been made so far. A fresh perspective, however, is always a handy thing. I've been playing the game for a bit now and there are a huge amount of ideas on these boards that are excellent. I'm not sure how many, if accepted, would be able to incorporated into the game as new textures, model sizes or even new mechanics would need to be introduced and time isn't a friend <img src="ht
