YOU WIN THE INTERNET! Exactly what I was just wishing I had to refer to. *sniff* God I love this community.

YES PLEASE. My biggest frowny face with the interface is needing to switch to the fighter-builder all the damn time when new hangers / carriers are built. Fighters are free! Build SOMETHING you fools! ZOMG here comes the enemy fleet and we have nothing but antimatter! Overriding it is easy enough, and with a global toggle you make everyone happy.
Oh nice job! Your effort is VERY much appreciated. I do a lot of Sins discussion and head-scratching at work, and don't have the game here to refer to. This is awesome. Thanks very much. The one issue: I can't get the pop-ups to work. Requires AJAX? I'm using IE6, being a work computer, so maybe it's a "good browser" plug in or soemthing. Not a huge problem - I know what most of those techs are - but if it's something you can easily fix, that'd be great. BTW: does anyo
That worked perfectly. Thank you!
Thanks for the reply. The problem now is that I can't see how to buy it. Because Stardock knows I've already got it, the "Buy" button is missing from the entry in Games. Where do I go to buy is, uh, manually?
I may be corrected (going to try LAN tomorrow), but my understanding is that it allows two players in a LAN per key. Note that if you buy it online through Stardock it sends you the key straight away by email. Hope that helps.
I have a copy of Sins. I want to set up a LAN with two copies, which will work if I can get two copies. I have 5 tokens, which is the cost of Sins. I understand I can't gift tokens to another account, but can I buy a second serial on this account (and then log into my account using the other PC)? If so, how? (I know Sins serials are good for two PCs, but we want to have 3 people in the LAN).
Thanks - but apparently I can't gift tokens. So I guess I'll have to log into my own account from their pcs.
I understand that I can use one serial on two machines for LAN play (?). I bought my Sins through Stardock / download. Here's my plan: I have a friend, and we're planning to play Sins on LAN this weekend. He must be converted to the Sin-side. His girlfriend, being a most excellent girlfriend, is keen to play, too, as long as she's playing with us and not on her own. So I've decided to buy them a copy. So we'll have 3 machines and 2 copies, which I think will work.<br/
Ahhh, that explains it. I've been testing stuff out on small 1v1 maps.
He SAW the fleet coming. He had ALL his forces in system. The Siege Frigs take so much damage that they can sit under the guns of your entire empire and smoke the planet. That's the issue, people, and the next person who says "why didn't you see them coming" gets a smack upside the head. Reduce their hp, and the problem is sorted. Just make them easier to kill. It's an elegant solution - you really shouldn't be bringing siege frigs in until the defences are - at the very least - engaged
Sorry, don't remember the tech names, but they're as described - one says it'll let you jump further, and the other says it gives access to wormholes. I tried them last night and could see absolutely no effect, and no way to use them or build anything to use them. Help? The fact that no-one else seems to have asked makes me suspect I'm just a bit of an idiot...
They are afraid.
But us Aussies supposedly don't get it till late Tuesday GAH! What - why? It'd be downloadable the same time everyone else has it downloadable. Given that we're 16-odd hours ahead of the US, that means we should have it Tuesday morning. If the counter at the top has any meaning, it'll be midnight tonight. ...unless you know something I don't...
Well, surely you can only repeat it when you research a new tech...? I've never played below Tough difficulty, and for me the AIs all trade between themselves. It's rare for me to pick up a tech through trade that the other AIs do not have already, and then it's only if I've kept good relations with both sides at war with each other, or if I've payed a huge price for a tech they considered valuable. I would like to see an option to make tech trades more expensive, or (chang
Yeah, *all factories do* is contribute to making stuff on tiles or to building ships in orbit (decided by social/military ratio). If you aren't building anything on a planet or in orbit there, the factories aren't doing anything.
Well, your income is based on the population, and economy structures boost that income. The default population is pretty significant, so economy structures have a decent effect even without farms. Personally, I save farms for worlds with good farm and/or happiness squares, and just make these dedicated, massive economy planets (specialise social, and after a couple of factories just build farms, happiness and economy - about one economy per farm, and probably a happiness per two farms
The trick, at least on harder levels, is to look at your starting wad of cash. It's HUGE. Pump out an invasion fleet, go straight for the target planet. Grab one on the way if you gotta. Game over, you win. You aren't really meant to fight the Dreadlords. Just run like hell!
I like big96d's idea. I also think that the AI should treat each other like they would the player. So if they wouldn't trade it to them for reasons x,y, or z, then they should apply the same logic to other AIs. As far as I can tell, they do. What makes you think they don't?
Big96d is talking about techs you actually researched, rather than traded for. ...personally, I don't see the problem. When I get a tech from the AI I do the rounds and trade it to everyone who doesn't have it, unless it would directly damage my chances. Why shouldn't they do it too? Assume that most non-weapon techs will immediately be spread out to the other races. Hoard techs you don't want to have spread around (for me, that's either the defense to my main weapon, influ
Apologies if this is obvious with the game installed, but I'm at work... I'm most interested in messing with the AI. Nothing I've seen online says it's possible for users to directly mod the AI, but there's heaps of developer tweakage and Metaverse "evolved" AI trading. Can we mod AI? --- (I want to add - I know, it's embarassing to use scripts, but... - a simple script for the AI to detect that it's blockaded. If there's an enemy fleet of X fi
