well thanks a bunch for y'alls help but uninstalling NIS didn't fix the problem. I guess I'll give Natural Desktop a try next time I format my drive. I don't personally use any Symantec products. I stay away from'em, except for Norton Ghost. But this is a family rig I'm trying to install Natural Desktop on. So the choice of AV wasn't mine. BTW I use Kaspersky Personal (on mah laptop) where you don't ever have to face these problems!

Hello y'all! I'm having a hard time making Natural Desktop 1.5 - that I purchased yesterday - work on my computer. Symptoms: - the map doesn't respond to my clicks. For office use, I would recommend a Pentium 4 (over 3.2 Ghz if you consider upgrading to Windows Vista at some point and/or watch HD videos). don't u think they need to train pilots how to handle a plane a little better? or at least make a rule that says that people to drink or do drugs can't handle a plane? Are you trippin? Today's commercial pilots are overtrained. Most legacy airlines have expert pilots. They know their jobs mighty well!

Having read accounts of folks who successfully installed OSx86, I wouldn't recommend venturing out that way to anyone who doesn't have a SSE2 AND SSE3 processor (those w/o SSE3 can still install it with the hack but a lot of stuff needing Rosetta won't function, a workaround is in preparation). I think this is simply in response to Mac fanboys and girls who claimed when Steve Jobs announced MacIntels that Mac OS X Tiger would never work on a PC. Well they were wrong. Now Apple will have to consider a little more seriously whether they want to release Mac OS X to PC users or keep them out of the Apple fan club and let them use pirated versions over and over. Their call now. There's a market to tap into and money to make.

Corky_O has a Sanoma, look for one too. They're cheaper to make than Dothans (the Toshiba one has a Dothan) and include newer components. You'll be able to upgrade HDD, memory, graphics card pretty easily when you'll need to! They all have a 533MHZ FSB and the processor numbers are 730, 740, 750, 760...

I had a look at the CL56. I find it amazingly ugly. But I think the two of us can agree that he shouldn't buy a Toshiba well it does not look fancy and doesn't glitter, that's for sure, but ugly this is being harsh! Fair enough. But let's say you can't afford that extra $200, I would still want more for my money. Brand name laptops cost more to no additional advantage for a computer that I know will soon be or is already outdated. This is the case for the Toshiba under discussion. CL56 is a proven best seller. Brand name is important in many cases, yet I don't see the point of it if you're on a tight budget, looking for famous brands at all costs to the complete detriment of performance. Both are equally important. CL56 can deliver on both. Look it up! Besides your description of them brands is gratuitous and very subjective!

With $1,200 you should be able to find better deals than that. Try looking up CL56. Compal is the barebone manufacturer, then it's customized and rebranded. They're real sturdy and offer the kind of performance you only find on fancier computers. I reckon it might be a good compromise between price and performance. It matches up easily with more trusted names.

Centrinos run cooler, use less electricity and are a bit slower than a P4 or a Xeon. not slower than a P4. Intel Pentium M Dothans and Sanomas run better on laptops than P4's do. (unless you tap into the fastest P4's: 3.6 ghz and higher that have no Centrino equivalent, but no battery life as well! <

Y'all need LDDM drivers from ATI or nVidia. If after a reboot the Aero theme is still not there, use Tweak Vista (google it) to tweak the registry and enable the transparency, blur and all the transition effects that make up Aero glass (you still need LDDM drivers).
