Yep, we were running a bit AHEAD of schedule for a change and put up beta 2 tonight. But it won't be "officially" released until Monday (gotta put the docs and update lists and fix a few minor bugs still).

Just DL it and things are looking good. Keep up the good work. It will be interesting to read about what has all been implemented. Even the visual improvements are making this feel like a more complete work.

Later!

The game looks pretty nice. I haven't had the chance to play it to much yet, but what I've seen looks great. I've noticed a few issues in my brief experience with the game. You probably already know about most if not all of these, but I figured just in case:

- I saw the Drengin planets a good number of turns before I could speak to them. The speak to button appeared in their systems, but they weren't on my diplomacy splash screen.
- Clicking on a planet occasionally lowers the displayed morale from the system screen by 2.
- Some messages, like when the Drengin built their economic capital and called me to gloat, displayed the news-bot instead of the race. I had the same thing happen with an Altarian event.
- Moving the sliders in the economics screen one left then one right doesn't always leave you with the original number. The player can 'jiggle' the slider to get the best numbers. This bug was present in previous versions too.

Clarification: I didn't try to speak with the drengin using the 'speak to' button in their systems before I made official contact with them.

minor races can only be spoken to with that button.

superb new beta! much better than i was expecting:
one little bug n the bottom right label on one of the graph icons - 'string not found'

BUT the improvements (seem to me to be):

*better planet seeding!! - more 'empty space' allowing for defensive arrangements (something for star bases?)
*better prices on units
*better camera updates - as promised
* better distribution and ratio of anomalies and space debris - not too many anomalies giving too much tech early!
* i love the ship info '?' - this could be made very useful now with some graphics representing strength/speed/range etc poss??
*general balance and 'feel' seems improved - don't know if anyone else has noticed?

yet too explore diplomacy or warfare but I can't wait - my enjoyment has increased I would sy 50% - the game is on its way!

p.s. i am playing on 'uncommon' habitable planets - they still seem far too common to me!

I played it almost to the end. I only had about 15 planets but through agressive trading of techs I was able to stay on good terms to almost the very end...no wars......

My survey ships would run around and grab all of the anomaly techs and then trade them off as needed to stay on good terms with everybody. Once relative peace was established then the trade started pouring in.....wow what a difference!

'- I saw the Drengin planets a good number of turns before I could speak to them. The speak to button appeared in their systems, but they weren't on my diplomacy splash screen.'

Right now, only ships trigger the diplomacy screen, IIRC. The Speak To button does work with major races that you don't have normal diplomatic contact with yet.

'- Clicking on a planet occasionally lowers the displayed morale from the system screen by 2.'

It's not actually changing the morale, the display is just updating slowly. That occurs with all of the lists.

'- Moving the sliders in the economics screen one left then one right doesn't always leave you with the original number. The player can 'jiggle' the slider to get the best numbers. This bug was present in previous versions too.'

This does not work, it just looks like it does. Changing tabs and coming back will report the actual new income/expenses.
