Tonight my wife, pregnant 7 months, pointed me to an article on her "pregnancy board" about the Quiznos sub comercials featuring the "Spongmonkeys". The article and the 34 replies were all women who couldn't stand the little buggers. However, the majority of husbands found the comercials hilarious and quite catchy. They'd even go around the house humming the tune and saying "They got a pepper bar!!". I fall squarly this category of husband. Luckily for me, my wife finds the commercials amusing too. She doesn't like the spongmonkeys though.

My guess is that they look like defective creatures and being pregnant women, that kind of visualization just turns them off. What do you think?

Well, I like them, and I'm a girl. Not pregnant though...if I am I'm sure The Vatican would be interested in hearing about it.

I don't know if it's just pregnant women who dislike them, I know quite a few people who think they're distasteful and none of them are pregnant. The reasons most of my friends give for not liking them are the same ones that you have: they look weird, dead, disfgured, deformed...just odd and disturbing. I myself felt that way about that them when the first few times I saw the commercial,but now I think they're endearing. The tune and lyrics are great too..

I ate at my local Quiznos the other day...gotta love that pepper bar!

Neither I nor my friends are married, but we're quite fond of the commercial...

Also, the Black Angus Steak sub is the best....

Damnit!  Now I have Paul's version of that song stuck in my head from lunch and you saying "They got a pepper bar!"

I oddly what a sub sandwich now........

I wonder if we could make Paul and your faces into the two spngmonkeys and make our own version?  Hmmmmm.......sounds like a job for Scott.........
