Gamespot has a preview of Galactic Civilizations II up and going. Definitely worth checking out!

NOTE: This is a hands on preview with lots of brand new screenshots. I.e. they played beta 3.

Early verdict: Combining the best elements of Galactic Civilizations & Master or Orion 2.
