Are you a Goggle Wacker?

In case you didn't know, Google Wacking is an on line game.

You type in two words in the Google search engine, set to the World.

If it comes up with one single hit, then you have won. :HOT:
You go to the web site and leave a message for the site owner.
Some pretty weird word combinations come up with some equally weird sites. :SURPRISED:

I realise this is probably too intellectual for most people here. ;)

Apart from the Diplomats of course. :)

It was originally invented for people who wanted a break from playing Gal Civ at work.

Scrabble rules apply. The two words must be real ones.

Soem of the restrictions are that both search terms must be real words according to dictionary.com (in the part of Google's results page that says "Searched the web for..." words in the online dictionary show up as links to their definitions), and the page can't be nothing more than a list of words. And if you get four results, and three of them are word lists, it still doesn't count. Tough.

The trick is to think up uncomon words, keep trying untill you get very few results, and then pick words from those pages that you don't think will be anywhere else. Example: "evisceration biodynamics" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=evisceration+biodynamics

I started off with "egregious esotericism" and pulled uncomon words off of the pages that came up untill I found a pair that was unique.~SDC~

You got it. :CONGRAT:

Nice one PJ.

Have you told them how unique they are?

I'm sure that someone with a page titled "Human Dissection Handbook Preview" is quite well aware of how unique he is. ;)

Actually, that is quite an interesting site.

The course is only $1250 for five days. :SURPRISED:

You get to cut up five cadavers for that. :HOT:

Hey that sounds pretty cool. We should offer that course for free at our Terror Star of Evil except make it Torian cadavers.

It's too easy if you use stuff that isn't in the dictionary.

Also, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=macaronic+evisceration&spell=1

How come I can spend twenty minutes trying to come up with unusual pairs of words, getting it down to 3 with "macaronic disinterestedness," and all I have to do is throw "evisceration" in there and I get a whack? And why is that always the first thing to come to my mind when I try to think of unusual words?

Bah. I don't care anymore. I'm going to go look up "macaronic" now.

That's lots of fun! I must try it again when I have more time.

My best results were 6 matches for quadriplegic endothermic, and 1 match for merodiploid endothermic (unfortunately, dictionary.com doesn't have merodiploid:p ).

Of course if you publish one that works on the internet, that page itself may get indexed by Google and you have just destroyed its uniqueness.

Antidisestablishment and its derivatives are however excellent words to kick off with
Reply #16 Top
Antidisestablishment and it's derivatives aren't in the official dictionary, so they can't be used.

I tried infalible altruism and nothing came out. So do I get an score? link http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=infalible+altruism&btnG=Search
Reply #18 Top
Now it seems to have four links, and infalible isn't a real word so I don't think that counts.
