Altarian Prophecy (Beta) Bug Reports

Altarian Prophecy (Beta) Bug Reports

Please specify which version of the beta you are using. You will probably be told to upgrade if you are using an older version.

Please install and run SmartException from the free stuff tab in Stardock Central so that if the beta crashes, it will generate a report that you can send to me with your debug.err files and save games.

Please update the non-expansion part of Gal Civ if you haven't, but please note that your save games will be messed up because of the additional improvements.

I will want any save games that reproduce bugs, particularly crashes.  Save games in Altarian prophecy are only one file, no folders.  Go ahead and e-mail them to me along with a description of how to reproduce the bug.  You can still report the bug here, but I always take save games that reproduce the bug.

Please report typos in the typo thread.  String Not Found bugs are not typos.  When you see a string not found, send me your debug.err file before starting a new game.

Please give as much detail as possible when reporting bugs so that I can reproduce it more easily.

v1.49N[rc].002 - Just finished exploring the map - there are no minor races.
End of quote

If you play the campaign, it "toggles off" the minors. Unfortunately, when you start a regular game immediately after playing the campaign, it doesn't reset to the default of "minors on". You MUST click the minor on/off toggle to turn them back on. It took me a game to figure this out too.

I have found when switching to a generic governer during the campaign, it lists things twice (such as news networks and manufactioring centers) and doesn't change the build list to coincide with new techs that were researched.

My last game, that would not submit, was an alliance victory. One anomoly that I noteced in the stats page is that I had paid some very large number, like 75648930983bc in tribute. I don't think I even earned that much LOL LOL

I wanted to check that I had not done something dumb :) , so I played a small game to alliance victory. Cannot submit. Did the fix from the last beta not get carried forward? (:(

Bug:

When Federalists win election, they only "get" +20 Economics.

When Federalists *lose* election, they are penalized:
-20 Economics
-30 Diplomacy

Do you earn the Diplomacy back if Federalists win back the Senate? It's not listed.

Mini-Freighters are still painting their auto-pilot destination designator on stars.

Is Altarian Prophecy and the summary and all that listed on the select campaign screen? In your data campaign files, are your files named .gcmap and .gcsenario and gccampaign, or are they .gcm, .gcs and .gcc? Here is exactly what happens:I launch AP and click on campaign. This takes me to the campaign screen which shows select a campaign on the left with AP underneath it, a description of AP on the right and status (new) An unexpected conincidence 1/9 missions. I click continue on the bottom right and then the problem screen comes up. Reads AP on the top then underneath Mission One: An Unexpected Coincidence which has a blank box below it, the objectives and teams boxes are also empty but the minimap shows up fine. I can also continue from here and the campaign plays fine. I just have no clue what the objectives are or teams, etc. Running on Win98SE and just freshly downloaded GalCiv and AP from Stardock.Files are all named .gcmap .gcscenario and .gccampaign

What file contains the mission objectives/teams/mission description and where should it be?

Bug??
The Carinoids display their symbol when you talk to them, but if you click on any of the three buttons in the middle top of the screen to see what they are thinking, the background shows the head of the fish (forggen the minors name that uses that symbol)

OK, I finished a MASSO hugh map with military victory and cannot submit the game because of the problem of scenario etc. cannot be submitted yet. this was not a scenario. This had been fixed in the previous release, but apparently is broken again. :sniff!:

BUG:

Guard does not work correctly.

Guard only works when an enemy *moves* into sensor range. If you have a Sensor Drone parked out in a nearby sector to a major homeworld set on Guard, and that Major declares war on you, your Sensor won't wake up for any of those major ships "already" in its sensor range. If hypersensors have popped up, that's over 3 sectors for Sensor Drones. Other "guarding" ships display this same erroneous behavior.

Correct Behavior: Each ship on Guard should do a sensor sweep at the prior to player input begins (start of turn), and if any enemy ships are in range, wake up.

The Korx and Drath don't show up on the U.P pie chart in the diplomacy screen.

I submitted successfully both alliance and conquest win games with current build. It must be a "bad" update on your end.

"Current" meaning rc.002?

BUG: "Follow" Auto-pilot/"Follow" Alien Ships does not "Follow" the ship.

Why this is a Problem: Ships fly right off the screen after the earliest stages of the game.

The one time only auto-center on the ship is inadequate. When a ship only moves 1 or 2 parsecs a turn, that one time only auto-center behavior meets "follow" needs. Once movement speeds reach 5 or more, ships can now move off actual display (bottom right corner is under ship display window), forcing players to hold down the "c" key if they want to see what is going on.

Best for Display: Display should auto-center on active auto-pilot/alien ship after every move if "Follow" option is enabled.

Best for low end machines: Display needs to auto-center on active auto-pilot/Alien ship after every 4 moves executed on current "followed" ship.

BUG: AP (1.49N.rc.002) won't submit straight, random games. No custom maps, no custom rules. No submissions to the Meta.

I run 0 Mods. It was a normal, Tiny, Loose, Rare map. All victory conditions enabled. Win was Cultural. Recieved message "Scenarios and Custom maps are not allowed to be submitted" when I tried to submit the game to Metaverse.

Yup! Just submitted another alliance win (maso, medium, rare with alliance checked) with no problems using 1.49N(rc).002. The only real difference I can see in our games is that I didn't check culture, or the tech victories in my games. I'd advise playing with only alliance victory enabled to see if you can submit a game this way. If all else fails, go back one version and play this until Stardock straightens it out. Also, Stardock will likely ask you to send them your save games.

I reinstalled 1.49N(rc).002 and tried to resubmit, but no go. Neither an alliace game nor a victory game would submitt (maso, huge, rare, with alliance checked in both games) In the victory game, I elected to terrostar the aliens to tost rather than ally with them (they were all close) LOL :D

I don't think this is a bug, it's just something that happens occasionally.

I think you're right. I had the same thing. If you read the little blurbs that pop up in the beginning of the game, it reads:

Our scientists believe that Earth-like planets are much more likely to be in orbit of yellow stars...

That means that the chances aren't 100% that they will have habitable planets.

One thing, though... has anyone found habitable planets on anything OTHER than yellow (and purple) stars?

I originally posted this on the main message board-- probably not the right place. I played the campaign over the weekend, and in the 3rd mission, even though I took the Korx capital, the campaign wouldn't advance. It didn't advance when I took the rest of the worlds either. I was playing on the most up-to-date version, according to Stardock Central.

In addition, I played a short game with one of the custom maps, the Gigantic-balanced. One of the "arms" of the galaxy, the left, middle one, contained all dead, no-planet stars. I don't think that's the way it's supposed to be.

I liked the new alien races and the differing portraits relating to their morality. I also liked the campaign idea, even though I couldn't get very far!

I have a reproduceable crash to desktop save game. I have captured a log in smart exception, but smart exception doesn't seem to be able to submit to you, or at least doesn't seem to let me know it was able to send the log to you.

Anyway, do you have an email address you'd like the save game emailed to? I'm using the release candidate 1.49N.002

Thanks,
jeff
