Need Bootskin help, please.

My BootSkin is just humoring me and doing what it wants.... I select the bootskin I want and apply. Then I get: "Bootskin applied successfully. This skin will be used next time this machine is rebooted". I close bootskin reopen it and it has reset to..... Currently using: Default System Boot Screen

After you apply the BootSkin you want to use, do you restart your system to make sure it uses the chosen skin?

After you close it, open it up again through the Start menu and apply it again. When you re-boot you should be looking at it.....

Well, as soon as I close it and reopen it from the Start menu it reverts to the default screen.... and Yes, I have rebooted several times and it keeps using the default boot screen. It just goes through the motions (when applying) and as soon as I close it it returns to default....... don't know if this is germane but the logon works fine...

Do you have an Anti-Trojan/Spyware proggie running in the background?

No, don't think so I've been using SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, Ad-Aware, and Spybot-search & destroy for quite a while.... but I ran a scan now and just found a couple of items.... I tried bootskin again and it still reverts to the default as soon as I close it.

Are you telling me that the anti/spyware programs may be causing this?

I'll try disableing them and see what happens.

OK- Yrag, what in the world is a "Tea Time"..... other than a pleasant afternoon break in the UK???

AND where would I find it..... you know me, I don't go poking around with 'advanced' settings (I have spybot free version).

Spybot (Advanced mode)/Tools/Resident...un-check both.

I uncheked resident, but found no 'tea time'.... am I in the right place?

Of course not, I've never been there before, but now I did.

Ok- uncheked both, applied bootskins twice and rebooted twice.... bootskin still won't work.

I wonder why the logonscreen works.... seems like it would prevent both programs from starting since both operate before windows opens up? Hmmm

Try loading it in Safe mode......

You must have known this was coming, what in the world is a 'Safe' mode..... other than a batter making it over the plate before the ball?

Are you trying to beffudle me more than is my usual state?

I've read the term somewhere......

Somebody pass me a beer....

Ok...re-boot and after it starts the bios post (all that writing on the screen that means nothing to you) hit f8 and keep hitting it until you get a screen that asks how you want to boot. Pick 'Safe-Mode' at top and hit enter. It will look just like windows except nothing you have installed will be loaded. Bring up Bootskin and apply the skin. Then re-start.

Good luck...and keep that bat handy

Is the Ad-Aware you have installed by any chance a Professional version?
