IP blockin

Need some help for blocking one IP from my server

Ok so this is the deal:

when I checked my server I saw this ip that just kept sending pings to my root directory. This only happends once in a while and then I can block them trough apache but I was wondering if there is a simple program where you only have to add the ip to denie further acces.
