Hints in Delphi programm are not located at expected position

Dear team,

I am using cursorfx 4.03.

I observed that my Delphi 11.3 programs show a strange effect: the hints are not located at the position as expected. They jump far down.

In some cases the programs even crash. When I set in cursurfx back to windows standard all the strange effects do not happen anymore including that the program do not crash anymore.

On an old computer (what I rarely use) I have cursorfx 2.16. With this version the effects with my Delphi programs do not happen!!

So I thought that I install the old version on my daily work computer.

But I cannot install the old version on any computer anymore. It does not show the window where I have to put my product key in. It just does not show anything when I (re)start cursorfx 2.16.

Do you have any idea?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I don't have Delphi on my system, to verify this issue. However, I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates.

As for Cursorfx 2. Do know that your CursorFX 4.x key will not activate CursorFX 2.x. But, if you do have CursorFX V2. license key. Try this. In CursorFX 2.x go to Effects. Pick any Effects and click Apply. Than the activation menu will show up. Something like screenshot below.

We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Thanks

Dear Basj,

thanks for the quick reply.

Well, when I install the version 2.16 I have, I do not arrive at any screen like you show above and therefore I cannot input my product key.

My computer has Windows 10 Pro 22H2.

After installation it just does not show anything.

With the version 4.03 I arrive during the installation at a window where I input email-address and product key ... like you showed it above.

Harald

Have you tried uninstall CursorFX v4 first? If, yes, when you install CursorFX v2.16 what error came up? If no error came up, can you open up the CursorFX configuration windows?

Thank you,

Dear Basj,

BIG MESS! But I now solved it!!

Step by step:

First of all I deinstalled version 4 before I installed version 2.

But I was not able to open the configuration window.

I know from the past that the themes are under C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX

I found that all themes where still there AFTER uninstall. Strange?!

I moved them away to another folder.

Suddenly the configuration windows opened!

Then I deinstalled everything again (by the way with revo uninstaller what should clean also things which the uninstaller of the program leaves behind).

Then I installed version 2.16 again.

It worked. The configuration window opened and it behaved as you explained. I typed in my email address and the product key and it was accepted.

Then I copied back ALL themes from previously.

An then the configuration window did not open anymore!?!

Ok, again all uninstalled and the themes folder deleted.

Then it worked again and I copied just one theme from the old ones back to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX.

It still worked and I could select the copied theme / cursor.

It seems that some cursors (newer ones) make a problem to the configuration window of the version 2.

Then I tested my Delphi programs. They work as expected!! Thanks god …

So, what I can now clearly say is

- that with version 2.16 no conflict to Delhi 11.3 exists

- but with version 4.03 the hints are not where they are supposed to be

- and sometimes the Delphi program crashes with an exception which targets to a pointer to nil, means an access to memory not allowed.

I hope you can give this to your team. If they need support to further dig into the matter, you can give them my email address.

I can reproduce the issues now pretty good.
