I just removed GalCiv 4 from my computer and reinstalled GC3. All the campy dialog makes it impossible to play a 'serious game' now.
I spent some time with older versions of GC. They were a lot less campy overall. The 'we look forward to studying you" bit was over used, but it was much better than what I have been seeing in GC4SN.
I also was reminded of the alignment system at the Star Dock Metaverse in GC2, where you were rated 'Chaotic Good' or what ever based on your game history. Be interested in seeing something like that come back.
I like playing the bad guys now and then. But mostly I enjoy making choices that simulate what I might like to see 'good' civilizations doing. A game that I might get my grandkids playing, where we can talk about choices and see how they impact things. I think GC4SN has a lot of potential to be both fun and educational. But poor sportsmanship displays (in text dialog) by my good civ that are not balanced with a 'high road' response breaks the game for me.
So, I'll reload the game and see what the newest patch brought.
