What this game absolutely requires

Planet generator settings parameters

Starting a fresh game, your first planet, all you get is a list of choices with no input or details, some are even 'Precursor Worlds' with a hex that has a Precursor bonus, be it Science, Manufacturing or what have you, the problem is when you start the game and look at the world there are singular hexes with that particular Precursor bonus hex and there could be only one hex adjacent to it, it could be a hex better suited to something else, like food for example or population but if there's no other hex adjacent to it, that means you have to wait until you can terraform to plop a hex down that can be used advantageously.  This same problem can be duplicated, you can have a capital with only one hex adjacent to it, or you can have a Strategic or Luxury Resource in a hex that has adjacency bonuses that do not even pertain to the resource that is in that hex.

We need some sliders to choose parameters conducive to generating a home world that makes sense, that can give the player a decent start or just the complete opposite by choice and not at random,  as it is now the homeworld generator is more than likely to create a chaotic mess out what should be a solid beginning no matter how many times you restart the game.

how about allowing the player to actually choose the SIZE of the Homeworld planet?  I prefer to have my homeworld be exceptionally huge and loaded with as many benefits as I can get out of it.   At least a few, guaranteed.

A home planet that enhances or destroyes their abilities. For refugees a planet that is not the greatest for them is optimal.

I don't think it is the number of tiles but rather the lack of significance of the terrain. Here's the secret: in 0.81, planetary terrain basically doesn't matter. Three things are important:

  1. maximizing approval
  2. planning for the desired population
  3. picking a theme for the planet and going all-in on that theme

The first two really go together because housing districts give adjacency to entertainment districts. On your home world, you're probably going to be pumping out colony ships and starbases and approval will probably already be high. On your other worlds, position your capital to sort out your approval and population and use other improvements to make the planet awesome.

Your home world should be either your manufacturing or financial center. Your second world should be your scientific center (unless it is absolutely crap for science) and your third world should be whatever is left over. The benefits of those single use improvements and district adjacencies dwarfs the benefits of the +1s that litter the planet. If it is a science planet, it is far better to build research labs in your volcanoes than to try to force manufacturing hubs in there.

So you want more options for what your homeworld spawn has? That might be a little too meta-gamey.

Note: Removed the ALL CAPS.

It's called CUSTOMIZATION

Adapt and adjust? Otherwise your home world gonna look the same each time? Anyone else have thoughts on this?
This hasn’t bothered me.

It's in the sitrep from yesterday. I don't have a specific confirmation from the team though.

Choose a Precursor Planet in particular as your starting homeworld, the way they are generated is incredibly sloppy.  A lab world with a research bonus, the resource is plopped in a hex that has a bonus for food or approval or manufacturing and only one hex adjacent to it.  Try any Precursor world as a starting world and see what gets generated, there is something not quite sorted out here, this is why I suggested that the player have the option to set parameters.  There is not even an explanation as to what each choice of a homeworld means.

Another thing, Promethium in this game has to be about the rarest resource in the Universe, even more so in comparison to Elerium, want more Elerium just choose abundant for Nebulas, the other big three,  Thulium, Anti-Matter and Durantium are usually easy to find.

Purple Star, Promethium....but you can't pick in the settings the ratio of star types.   In your starting sector you could have one or two, maybe three or none at all.

What I would like to have is a galaxy with primarily 'EXTREME PLANETS' however it's vague as to what Extreme Planets actually means and I say this because in the settings you can choose none? or is it rare? all the way to abundant, as far as I can figure, Extreme Planets are the violet planets, the big planets usually over 30 hexes, these planets are worth your time, you can make something out of these, I'd rather have 10 of these than 100 of anything below a quality of 20.

But you can't set the game up like that can you?  I've tried and it cannot be done.  Extreme Planet setting in the galaxy settings is for every sector not just the starting sector you begin the game in so even if you pick abundant all of those 'Extreme Planets' are spread out thinly.

Or am I misunderstanding the term 'Extreme Planets'? does it mean something else? Like a planet with an Extreme environment in relation to the environment that my chosen species is most adaptable to?

If such is the case then there is no setting to choose these fat violet planets that would make the game less of a time sink and more entertaining.   A tall build rather than a thinly spread out empire.  More productive and interesting than just scraping by, constantly weak for an extended period of time just waiting to be conquered, well, based on the number of opponents and the unbalanced difficulty level.

This game seems to me to be particularly formulaic in nature, with a specific way to play it.  That is the impression I am getting from it.

One thing I do know is that if you pick the humans, you're going to have a long game and a hard time of it.

Extreme Planets are the ones you need special tech to colonize.

Paradise & Precursor planets are the big ones.

The two Human empires, Terran and Resistance,  should not be forced to start on a planet with the hexes grouped into two continents, the player should be able to choose what KIND of planet you want to settle on,  be it continental, ocean, pangea, paradise, the PLANET CLASS or SIZE, you should be able to pick that too.  You should be told in the settings what potential bonuses or benefits are possible on the home planet you choose.
