Documents protection software

Does anyone know a good software that permits me to protects my files from being read, modified, deleted etc.?

Free if possible.

Win2k/XP has built-in security to do what you wish. Right-click on your files or folders then select properties...then the security tab to setup file permissions. If it's encryption you're after go to the general tab and select the advanced button. Keep in mind that any account on the system that has admin rights can override whatever security you set up.

On the other hand, if you want something like having to put a password in to access a folder even when you're logged-in, then you will need some 3rd party software. Check http://www.betanews.com or google it. Good luck.

I don't know of any that are free but if you do want to encrypt a file or folder that will even make a hacker cringe, make sure that the program you get uses the Blowfish encryption method. Its probably the best encryption method commercially available.
