negative score

I have played a few game so far and didn't really pay attention to the score on the victory screen until recently. When I won a game I noticed that my score was high, but not just high, it was negative. I assume that the score is a integer, so when it gets too high it wraps around and becomes negative.

I had a score of -1,296,887,296 and I really want to know how my score got so high. I have done some googling, but all I found was that other people don't know how the score system works either. That was about 5 years ago, so I wonder, is more know about the score system? If so, could anyone explain how my score got so high?

No. Sometime between initial release and now, I think sometime after Crusade, the scoring system got redone, scores got hugely inflated, and so far as I know no one has been able to figure it out yet.

Just out of curiosity, was your score obtained while playing a campaign? I seem to see a lot of ridiculous scores posted when playing the campaigns on Intrigue/Retribution.

Yeah, i got this score when i finished my campaign. Thanks to the ancient ability i managed to get over 750k research per turn with 63 colonies by the end of my campaign. I think this is the most likely cause of my huge score, but im sure there were more factors that caused this.
