Oh Great another newbie Yor Collective Post

Please help

Hi All,

Running v4.0 as Yor.  For starters when you are selecting your race it would be nice to clue the user in as to how the Yor produce population because that is unclear.  We also see helpful advice for the silicon lifeforms.

Now onto the real problem, what in the heck do I need to research to build population?  And a second question do I build population like a normal infrastructure improvement?  Now to a couple of more nuanced questions, does food matter for the Yor to build cities?  And also does growth modifies do anything for the Yor?(My guess is no)

As a small aside is it unusual to have a star with 0 planets?

Thanks for all the help.  I really love the idea of playing as a synthetic race, and am happy to test them but its very unclear for someone to learn.

Also an event came up "Emperor's Ascension" which should not apply to the Yor, basically it provides free approval.

Yor (and other non-feeding lifeforms) are extremely powerful, if you let them get that way.  They have decentralized research, and so long as they have some mining bases, far better population growth than bioforms.

events with approval ratings are merely proteins sharing juices.  This can be eliminated.

Also, if you are interested in alternative feeding methods:

other than mechanical (no food, ever, just social production)

there is silicon (cities give higher bonuses, but gain lower bonuses, food not needed, instead P)

and my fave, aquatic.  Needs food, but can grow it cheaply anywhere.  Easy to beat those wired scum when we populate fast, and research better than anyone.

Yes, the event is a minor thing and I can overlook.  What is very frustrating is that there is nothing that tells you about how to build population.  Although now at about turn 26 or 27 it seemed to randomly appear as an option to build.

If there is a delay at least kindly let the user know when they are selecting the Yor.

Thanks for listening to my rant, just trying to sharpen an already excellent game.

oh, yeah.  And aeroponics.  Why?  Just go watery.

there is a population path for bios..  it helps with pop growth over time.

For the robots, it is unlocked with planetary improvements.

Agreed, documentation for this game sucks.  Just ask away.  Most people here are kind to newbies.

Synthetic player here.
Be good even if you are really evil. The ideology that gives colony ships +2 population is amazing. I don’t really kick off my expansion until that point.

also at the start if you have two worlds and one is a class 7 and one is a class 12 settle the seven first for your first world it will pop the “first world settled thing” and that is the only event you can get for the first world you colonize I believe.
The class 12 you want the possibility of a good event which is why you settle it second

anyone ever had anything different happen?

always some stars with nothing around them.

Hi All,

A few more qurestions.  Are the Yor out of the U.P. by default?  In my game it  says days till next meeting: "Blank"

So wondering if that's a glitch?  Also what tech do i need to build freighters? medium hulls?  I can't seem to figure it out.

UP doesn't meet until one of the main civs meets all the rest of the main civs.

Freighters and medium hulls are unlocked by technology.  Expand the tech tree on the research screen, and scroll over the techs to see what they unlock.
