another newbie question
I have three spys. Two are on Earth. Don't laugh but how do I send them to an enemy's planet? I have read through the espionage section so I must be missing something, again.

Step 1: Allocate one spy - preferably both, it speeds things up - to the Race you want to spy on via the Espionage screen, accessed from the "Home" screen.
Step 2: Wait until you receive information on the Race in question. I'm not sure at precisely how many turns, but at some stage you will get access to your enemy's planets and then you can place one spy or more on one of their tiles.
Others will have more detailed info, but them's the basics...
To assign a spy to an enemy planet, click on the enemy planet and then click on "Place Spy". You will then be able to place a spy on an enemy building.
You may also add a spy to your planet to increase counter-espionage. Spies assigned to your planets will slowly level up like any other citizen.
Spies assigned to races via global espionage screen will increase your knowledge of the enemy. At ultra level you may start stealing techs.
Unassigned spies show up in the civilization screen under counterespionage.
Except if I remember clearly, if you have them assigned to one of your planets they have to be reassigned first and that requires some resource and if you don't have it -- tough luck. Even reading the fine print isn't helpful since it didn't say that anywhere when I read it (a while ago, true).
I have found the entire assignment/reassignment thing for citizens in general to be less than intuitive.
Not all citizens can be recall too. Like Celebrity, if you assign them to a planet, they will stuck there until you give/sell that planet to anotehr race, then all citizens will get call back to the pool. In general, you need 10 Promethium to recall citizen back which is pretty huge cost early on.
