I got the game running on my Linux Mint 18.3 machine using this https://steamcommunity.com/app/226860/discussions/1/1752358461543634666/ properties -> Set launch options add PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
It did solve the issue of it saying "failed to initialize display" and not running at all, but the game still doesn't seem to be running right.
1. All planets generated including home planet whether tutorial or quick start or whatever generate as "Type 0 dead planets devoid of life."
1b. Probably related to the first part, I can't build anything on planet aside from space dock, because it says there is no space.
2. When viewing my planet screen I get this bleed through of the galaxy screen.

3. When I order ships to go somewhere they move a bit but there is still green movement when they end and I can not get the ship to go further. I can show a screenshot it if you like.
There was one more but it's slipped my mind, I'll edit in latter if I think of it.
There are probably other issues but with my lack of experience playing the game and thus don't know how it's suppose to be and with these issues, specifically the barren planets issue, it makes playing to discover them difficult even as I might not recognize if I encounter them.
Have devs ever considered please providing native Linux version and/or working to make the game more compatible with running on Wine or helping Wine run the game better?
