Retribution Content Missing

DLC is installed but not accessible

Up until recently I'd been playing with the new Retribution content as the Drath, but for whatever reason, all my Retribution content has disappeared from the game. The Retribution Factions themselves can't even be selected, they aren't even an option. My game is version 3.5 and I've tried disabling mods, validating files, checking if I've accidentally opted into a beta, reinstalling each DLC individually through Steam, and even trying for a full fresh reinstall. The game shows the Drath customization stuff in the editors, and the game files themselves show the DLC is installed, it just can't be played.
I'm at the point where I'm ready to refund it and repurchase Retribution through Steam to see if that would work, though it's pretty unlikely it will.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Few things (and am pointing one other person here from a like issue Steam forum thread so I may be covering things you have already tried):

  • When you open the DLC menu in Steam, what does it show - does it show the 'Retribution Expansion': https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/2019-03-07_10-02-25.png

  • Are any of these issues for an existing game (that may be dated) or are all the issues seen also seen in creating a new game as well?

  • Can you supply any video / screenshots of what you are seeing - perhaps pointing out what you should be seeing but are not?

  • Save games are always helpful as well as any debug.err logs (they have version and DLC info in them - \My Games\GC3Crusade).  You can post them to a cloud service (Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, etc) and link them here.

I am having the same problem for new games.  Saved ones still have access to Retribution and Intrigue content.

Sorry to hear that.  Did anything I posted help?

Could you try this and see if it fixes it for you? It worked for someone else.

My guess that it is either not downloading all the files that you need from Intrigue or one or more of the data binaries didn't download correctly. You can force the data binaries to rebuild from the downloaded xml by deleting the RebuildData.ini file from the GC3Crusade folder. If that doesn't work, you're probably missing files regardless of what the verify files finds and you may need to try doing a full re-install.
