New game slow down?

I started a new game today and it felt like the turns were noticeably longer. Is this just my imagination or has anyone noticed the turns taking slightly longer. If it is this noticeable at the very start of the game I am a little apprehensive about what turn 250 will look like.

Turn times are currently really slow. Once you hit 100+ your looking at 2m+ for 14 AI on a huge map and thats with a new gen comp (2700x in a crosshair vii MB and 32gig ram, RX580)

I mean compared to similar games I have previously played the speed is like I am at turn 120ish even though the game just started and I am only at turn 25 with nearly the exact settings as my previous game. The only major difference is I turned the habitable planets to common and changed the AI to genius
